Perquimans County Schools Strategic Goal 2: Provide services and staff to support the social, emotional, and physical needs of our students (“the whole child”) in a safe, secure, orderly, and innovative learning environment.
NC Star Indicator: A4.06 ALL teachers are attentive to students' emotional states, guide students in managing their emotions, and arrange for supports and interventions when necessary. |
Measurable Objective to Achieve Goal: - Provide 100% of students with relevant SEL support and instruction on a monthly basis through the implementation of the Believe in You curriculum, MTSS problem solving, and staff training in SEL.

- Utilize small group instruction during embedded WIN time
- Use of outside agencies to assist with social-emotional needs of students as appropriate
- Staff training on a variety of topics including suicide prevention, non-curricular student groups, and MTSS monitoring and interventions
- Use the threat assessment protocol to assist students in acute need
- Ensure teachers have planning time to collaborate with other relevant staff to integrate social-emotional competencies into instruction and support individual students' needs.
- Engage all school-based staff in a professional learning centered around building positive adult-student relationships
- “Be The One” person (staff adopt students from all grade levels for weekly check-ins)
