Hello everyone, bk(pronounce as bweekay) here, as you can see I am an vagabond main player, so we will discuss about the class of “Vagabond”, her current state of art and all other small tips to player her elegantly.

Global overview of the class

Lets start with a simple question, why you should play Vagabond,

CUZ VAGABOND NUMBAAAAA ONEEEEE

WE ARE NUMBER ONE,

well, technically, we were, but 2 years ago, time passed and things changed a lot. Just blame Swini.

To be honest, at current patch, vagabond has just an “ok” dps output, the skill form of this class is very good, big aoe, smooth cdr rotation, easy to pilote, high speed and by extension relatively decent survivability.

So for a newbie who just start to play dfo, I highly recommend picking vagabond or other slayer class to start your dfo life.

By the way, we are one of three class(Vagabond, Weapon Master, Dark Knight) that are able to use lightsaber weapon due to our lovely “Lightsaber License”

Yes my boi and gals, if you wanna play with Lightsaber, Sword master is the wrong class

Skill build

Meta skill building(With Aspect weapon):

With Aspect type weapon , Vagabond’s skill build is pretty much fixed and does not require any trade off

with the top build, there is a few hundred skill point that u can spend on skills that arent maxed, the increase is very small so not that important since we already maxed our major damage skills

for my part i still maxing Sword barrier and event put my leftover tp point on it, it has very low interest nowadays, but i quite like this skill, so its up to you.

I dont put tp on basic training because vaga major skills arent affected by it, so pointless

its worthy to put tp on it since it increase triple slash use count, it makes your daily chore more smooth.

putting skills points on Qigong - Yang is also possible, as the description said, it increase abnormal status proc chance per level, however, to only xstring trigger Qigong - yang, and the abnormal status from it isnt stable enough to be really impactful.(See explanation in Qi Gong - Yang part)

Off meta building (with Culmination Weapon)

in early stage of 110 patch era, culmination weapon actually dominated aspect for its substain, cdr and smoothness, but later on, aspect weapon received damage buff, hence the 99 percent of Vagabond user are using meta building with aspect weapon.

09/02/2023, weapon usage count on top kdnf server. (The second weapon is bakal weapon which we dont have yet in our server, even when we get it, aspect still dominating)

With Culmination weapon, we have to make some trade off in order to max cross

therefore, most common decision is to give up fluttering blades  to free extra sp.

TP wise, we also switch tp from fluttering to cross

Tips:

for both of suggested build, i have maxed leap, which is a core skill in dfo late content, a lot of gimmick in late game dungeon require to jump or stay in the air in order to dodge damage skill from mobs, if you aren't meeting those dungeon yet (Majorly ipsin and warpath), you can pull down skill point from it and just forget the existence the this skill.

Everyskills explained 1 by 1:

Passives:

Vagabond leather armor mastery, basic armor mastery

Inner passive, no skill point to allocate, inner maxed at 1

Inner class armor mastery skills, basically it's telling you to wear leather armor in order to receive bonus stats So make sure your armor is retextured to leather to receive extra crit chance and strength

Spiritual trinity

Max at 1

Vagabond damage passive, nothing to comment about, except this is our major skill to choose when about using a platinum emblem on avatars

Second Weapon Mastery

Inner maxed

Allow Vagabond to wear a second lightsaber as secondary weapon, only 10pct of its raw stat(physical attack and strenght) are counted
As you can see here, only reinforcement affect the bonus gained from the secondary weapon, +12 offhand weapon isnt mandatory, an simple +10 reinforced is enough. Amplification stats does not affect offhand weapon, so its pointless to amplify your main or secondary weapon

Cleansing fire

Max

Second Damage passive, comes with a small bonus, when vagabond enter abnormal status, she’s immediately cured from it and gain a small proportion of speed. Only negative abnormal status are counted, we got several status epic in 110 cap but those are not cured by this passive like self-shocking or self-status. Just consider this skill as passive dmg upgrade.

Zenith

Max

Third damage passive, just max it, nothing to add

Sword Deity

Max

Fourth damage passive that comes with third awakening. Allow you to chain skill immediately after chain blast usage.

Blade integrity

put 1

Allow you to use the adjacent 2 skills (Blade triangle and Gyre), those 2 skills are only counted as one skill, and scale with the lvl of blade integrity, both are not used skill, you can keep them at 1

Qigong- Yang

Inner maxed at 1

When used, change the form of your autoattack to different weapon type,

Zanbato: Higher autoattack dmg (which is equal to none)

Lighsaber: Faster Autoattack speed (Recommanded to use)

Katana: Chances to bleed enemies while autoattacking

Bludgedon:Chances to stun enemies while autoattacking

Short sword: Chances to Immobilize enemies while autoattacking

Its recommended to switch to lightsaber form and lock this skill, and throw it away.

As i said, only autoattack are affected by this skill (aka repeatedly pressing x button)

in 110 cap, boss are affected by abnormal status only after neutral gauge break, even boss is in neutralized form, we dont have time and patience to waiting the status to proc.

Quintuple strength

Max at lvl10

Vagabond major buff skill, on cast, increase critical damage,

One single cast is enough to get full 5 stack of quintuple strength,
its important to notice that the dmg type is critical damage type, therefore its absolutely necessary for vagabond to have 100pct crit chance in order to not lose dmg.

Pull and grab the ennemies in front of you for a short distance,
very nice damage skill while leveling, so you can max it while leveling, once lv110, you can put it back to lv1, since its completely useless at most of case

Chain blast

lv1


quickly Dash in front direction, dealing dmg on road,

very nice skill to max while leveling, if you already lvl110, just put it back to 1 and use it as dash skill

Fluttering Blades

Max or lv1 depending on preference

Relatively ok hit count, acceptable damage to max it

Oppressive pressure

recommended 1 or max depending on preference

Great levling skill, short cdr great aoe.

not that good once lvl110, you can pick either this skill or cutting palm depending on your preference to max

Cutting palm

recommended 1 or max depending on preference

Btw can also be casted in the air, in order to dmg and dodge ground gimmick

You can add directional button to make the flow bigger but shorter, or smaller but longer Y-axis range

Soaring

lv1

Hold skill, can grab grabable mob, lv1 for qol, nothing special,

the rising time is invincible, but on downfall you are still vulnerable, so its less than mountain wheel for dodging gimmick

Sword Wheel

lv1

Another hold skill,you can adjust throw direction with direction keys

Blasting Palm

Max

Major dps skill, its basically like a kamehameha, you charge then blast the enemie, all enemies who received first blast will receive a second aftershock dmg 1s later

Explosive Sword

Max

Has actually two form, if the skill is rapidly pressed twice, the character will immediately cast a giant sword smash, meanwhile if the skill is only pressed once, the character start with a spinning rotation then followed by the sword smash, generally the first option is preferred for quick damage output, both has same dmg.

Comet Rush

Max

Quick slash forehead then followed by 2 backward sword hit,

in order to use this you must press the skill twice.

(We rarely use this form because of talisman system will readjust the skill form, see talisman section)

Verdant blast

Max

Nearly fullscreen aoe awakening skill,

not used that much because its overwritten by third awakening skill, We still need to max this skill since it will increase 3a damage.

Cross Sword

lv1 if aspect weapon,

max if culmination weapon

Standard form: (No talisman, Not culmination weapon)

Culmination Weapon form:

Remove the entire hold animation, and you can cancel skill with cross sword before and after the casting of this skill.

Lotus Dance

Max

Can also be casted while in the air:

Explosive Palm

If you press up button while casting, the range will be longer

Lotus Flash

Max

One of major skill of vagabond,

the skill is divided in 2 part:

the first part is a slash that will mark the encountered ennemie with ! symbole

the second part is when the char move back to her initial location then deal the entire damage.

For the second part, it does not require the ennemie to be in a damageable stat, as long the first part has been locked, therefore, you can abuse this skill to deal damage even after the ennemie goes into invincible stat, as long he was damageable when you cast the first part.

 

Moonlight Dance

Max

Second awakening skill, you can use directional key to adjust final slash position.

Kinetic Drift

Max

Teleport into your front ennemie then deal 2 part damage, the second part will come slightly later

Lunar Arc

Max

Vagabond’s ultimate damage skill, the third awakening


The 3a skill will share coldown with either 1st awakening or 2nd awakening skill, its recommended to bind to 1a as my image shows.

Talisman, Runes

The talisman system allow you to upgrade and power up the skills of your choice.

 You can filter the talisman by clicking on desired skill icon, therefore i will simply use skill icon instead of talisman name.

I will first introduce you the meta choices of talisman set up, then ends with a second section that will present all talisman effect

Unlike some class like asura who want to wear 7 talisman slot, vagabond has very small skill form gain from talisman,her talisman are majorly damage related, their major utility is to boost your desired skill damage.

Optimal Talisman set up:


Old build(If communion belt)

New build with communion shoulder without communion belt, runes shifted to blade dance instead of lotus flash

After taking the two above, we only got one talisman slot open for one of three skill from below

Highly suggest to Comet Slash

 Or one of these two depending on your preference.

If u running communion shoulder fusion without communion belt, pick up

instead to squeeze as much benefit from the shoulder

Optimal runes

Two option are possible, either Lotus Flash, either Lotus Dance

I preferred Lotus flash since my title is lv80 range increase, both are pretty much dealing same gain.

With introduction of bakal armor fusion, the second runes set up (lotus dance) suits vaga better if u running only communion shoulder, if you run communion shoulder+communion belt, you can stay with lotus flash focused runes set up

For colors, optimal color set up is Blue+Purple+Red,

you can purchase runes reroller with Exile mountain material

BPR is optimal but other color isnt that bad, just try to avoid yellow when you are in early stage of runes optimization.

Allow you to press a second time lotus flash skill, which makes you teleport in front of your marked ennemie, if multiple ennemie is marked, the boss ennemie got higher priority

Enchants

Vagabond is a physical percentage class, therefore all enchant are oriented to physical attack then strength, with 100 percent crit as basic case.

For enchants, i will make 2 part, one is for beginner friendly or casual alt tier, second one is everything bis or near bis grade.

Dfo’s enchant card been really really affordable since the 110 cap, so i would suggest newbies to start with beginner filler enchant, then move directly into bis version when they got the opportunities.

I only give 3 tier of enchant, beginner tier with gold beryl free enchant, token shop free enchant, and end game bis enchant.

Its not worthy to invest in between range, just waste of gold

Beginner friendly tier:

Around the entrance of advanced dungeon like Castle of the Dead, Nobless code or Meister Lab, you can found npc like Meryl Pioneer whos sells enchant for golden beryl or ominous crystal, those are what i recommend for newbies, because neople always gift golden beryl with event, so its really easy to get those material. Those are nearly “free”, economic, and very suitable for the early stage of the game.

For cards, you can open the game menu

Enchant section,

you will found all wiki of all enchant cards and their effect, sometime you may found better card to use instead of what i recommend to you, its on your own choice, better the card, higher is its price.

For enchant cards, you will find them as raid reward, card album result, monster drop.

but those are too rare chance to be a stable source, so I will just list the auction house price.

I only recommend to use this as filler enchant until you are ipsin ready and farmed enough token in order to get 30 ele dmg enchant bead for free, yes magic stone bis enchant bead is free, just a bit hard to reach.

Either bis or 125 stats, the 150 stat enchant is completely outdated

In order to gain more stat, you need to swap special equipment, that will give less lvl increase, but more stat gain

the specific case of Motion Unique Aura have Platium aura slot, so we can gain one extra lvl of QT

So in order to achieve perfect buff swap: in addiction of basic slot filling,

you need either

Lvl+2 buff swap title + 2 QT platinum at top/bot slot + Motion aura with 1 QT platinum

Lvl+3 buff swap title + 2 QT platinum at top/bot slot

With title reroll pity, difference of price between +2 and +3 buff swap title is very small, so i would suggest everyone to pick +3 lvl buff swap title in order of buying Motion aura and 1 extra QT platinum slot.

Creature/Aura/Dps Title

Those 3 slot require to purchase with in game gold or cera, i won't be giving every specific option available, but i will classify 3 grade of possible item, choose your option with your wallet. Stronger equipment also means a way more expensive cost.

For newbie, sweat point is generally T2 or T1 depending what on sell package has to offer

Insignia

Vagabond is a physical percent class, which means she’s only affected by strength and physical attack modifier, (by extension, independent attack has no impact on her)

Therefore what you need the Insignia of Protection

About gems, you can buy  from the npc from guilde hideout, its quite easy to get it 4/4

generally, the combo is made by all those 4 gems:

+7 ele damage of each attribute, pick the one that you are u sing

You dont need to waste your time and fp to farm guild dungeon,

each week you will receive a bunch amonth of guildie token according to your character activeness (party, echo in guild chat, raid)

just afk until you reach 5k guildie token

In the game menu there is an guide menu that will help you gear out your char

Weapon choice

As i mentioned in the first paragraph, vagabond use Lightsaber as main weapon, in the old era, we also used zanbato, however with further patch and update, the damage difference between zanbato and lightsaber is small enough to be ignored, but you will never be able to ignore the cooldown difference between them. Therefore, your main weapon should be Aspect-Devoured Lightsaber

I suggest Vagabond newbie to start with archon build, which is shown as below

For the upper build, several alternative are possible which i list below:

However on other class like soulbender, rhombus is better choice

Strong in all situation, require a bit minmax to reach 275 elemental damage, if you not familiar with duty belt, you can swap it for

Archon+cyberspeed:

Very hard to archive, require late game perfect minmax, more importantly, the core piece Ent Top is RNG related, git lucky.

Going cyberspeed isn't mandatory for vagabond, she already got tons of speed, standard archon is perfectly viable set even till very late game

Ipsin fusion epic choice

When you reach ipsin, you can purchase fusion epic for accessories slot, each fusion gives you dmg or qol increase depending on trigger situation

Here is the major combination possible

Empyrean x3, relatively easy to trigger, standard damage increase, high survival, recommend as default combination

Alternative to standard emp3, black drake will make your mana permanently fixed around 10-20 pct,

you can pick green dragon neck if you go bleed or can’t trigger empyrean neck requirement

You CANNOT pick black dragon brace if you are archon build.

Standard archon fusion choice, black ring actually increase the mana regen so making u tankier if you have mana regen line.

Flame dragon x3 for more coldown recovery, a possible choice if you going archon and struggle to have more cdr

A mix of the 2 build above, but note that 2 drake proc got empty times, so you may lose drake stack in a long animation fight.

Not recommended, near useless effect unless you going for nature guardian build

Highly recommended to use Communion shoulder, Vagabond lv75 skill lotus dance is a major skill, and she has 2 lv40 skill that benefit too

Possible choice, ice shoulder gives 3pct attack speed which can help to build cyberspeed, still too much loss,

if you got tons of shock and poison custom that need to proc, predation shoulder is ok

Recommended to pick icy or predation,

icy need to be pickles in multiple slot, if you only got 1icy, its better to pick up predation top instead

16 attack speed in party, nice if you building cyberspeed

Communion not recommended, that range sux in this slot

Bottom

Only 2 choice, Communion for more cdr on Lotus Flash and Comet Rush or Predation belt for general increase.

If communion Belt can’t let you archive 3 casts of Lotus Flash in 40s sandbag, its better to pick Predation belt.

For newbie i recommend predation belt,

At very endgame if you got DD shoulder and other custom that makes you very high on elemental damage, you can swap off predation belt, otherwise its nearly unbeatable increase

Shoes

Either Icy shoes or Communion shoes,

Communion shoes allow you to cast 95 skill twice in a 40s sandbag,

however vagabond’s lv95 got hitbox issue and damage delay that may makes your dmg nullify.

so i recommend icy shoes.

Wrath shoes is ok, it provide super armor and few damage reduction while running.

But Vagabond is quite agile class, so no need that much qol
