If there is a knight in shining armor, a true hero to be found in the dark Land, it is the Slayer.  She is one devoted to the art of returning the Living Dead to the Long Sleep.  There are few enough Slayers in the world; those who take up this art are valued by the People and bound by the Slayer's Oath.  They are targeted by the evil Living Dead and feared by all who walk the Ways of Night.

The Slayer comes from an old and ancient tradition in book and film of those who spend restless hours returning the undead to the grave. Most often in these stories the Slayer concentrates on vampires.  Some famous examples of Slayers include Professor van Helsing from Bram Stoker's Dracula (who is also just a little Wisen), and of course, from recent history, Buffy.

The Land's Slayers are ones who either choose to slay the undead or who are born to it.  Many become Slayers after watching their families and villages suffer and die at the hands of the Living Dead, both intelligent and mindless.  Others have always known they were meant to slay.  From the moment their Truename was whispered to them from the lips of the First Lich, they have felt the cold need to stop the servants of the Dark Powers.  However, there are some Slayers whose ideals are not nearly so noble.  These are the Hunters, those Slayers who move from village to village, following only the scent of profit and the glint of gold.

For those who do not take the mercenary route of the Hunter, there are two main Orders of Slayers: The monastic Preservers who are devoted to the safety and protection of the Warders and Wisen, and the militant order of the Destructors who take sacred oaths to destroy the undead and any who would aid them. The consequences for a Slayer who breaks her Oath is dire.  If the Slayer breaks a code on accident, she loses access to her highest level Powers until the end of the Event.  If the Slayer ever breaks one of the Oaths on purpose, she becomes a Fighter of the same level, and loses one permanent Life Point.  Then there are the Hunters: those who belong to no Order and make no Oaths, living only by their personal code. The Oaths are as follows:

Oath of the Preserver

I will cause no harm to the living except those who choose to threaten my life or Oaths.

I will strive to allow no harm to the Warder, nor allow any hindrance to the Warder’s work.

I will fight to preserve the lives and knowledge of all Wisen.

I will seek the benefit and safety of all the People.

I will dedicate wealth and resources to the safety and preservation of the People.

I will speak no untruth to the Living, nor deceive them.

Oath of the Destructor

I will always choose to return the Living Dead of the Dark Powers to the Long Sleep.

I will allow no threat to the People to continue to draw breath.

I will keep the Lich’s Laws and promise that violations will not remain unknown to the First Lich.

I will find those who send the Living Dead against the People and hold them to the highest punishment.

I will make allowance in my vows for the cause of the greater fight.

Slayers can be found in a variety of armor.  From the silvers and whites of those Slayers who do not fear the night, to the dark, drab grays of the professional Hunters.

Recovery [Utility]

Incantation: Quick 100

Call: None

Target: Self                Duration: Instantaneous

Delivery: None                Refresh: Long Rest

Accent: Skill                Effect: Heal

By spending a quick 100 sitting or lying down, without engaging in combat (being hit by attacks, attacking or defending), the character can heal any number of Life Points up to their Maximum Life Point total.  Recovery can be used as often as is desired, but the total number of Life Points that can be healed between Long Rests is the character’s Maximum Life Point total.  Thus, if Triss has 10 Life Points when fully healed, he could use Recovery ten times to Heal 1 Life Point each time, and then would be unable to Heal with Recovery any more.  Note that regardless of how many ways a character can use Recovery (from different classes, items, etc.) they all use the same Point pool, so multiple sources do not give additional healing. xxHD
