GivingTuesday

GivingTuesday is a global celebration of generosity.  At Penn State, it's a day made for celebrating the We Are spirit. For six years, students, alumni, faculty, staff, friends, and fans have come together to demonstrate a shared belief in the aspirations of Penn State students and a pride in the accomplishments that put our University community on the map. Last year, more than 10,000 gifts were made to raise over $1 million in less than48-hours-support that not only encouraged student efforts across the Commonwealth, but also helped to provide a foundation for Penn Staters to stay in pursuit of their dreams through unexpected challenges.

On the form, in the "Please designate my gift to the following areas:" Indicate "Triangle Academic Excellence Endowment Fund (TFAEF)".

You can mail a check:

The Office of Annual Giving

2583 Gateway Drive

Suite 200

State College, PA 16801

Or you can go on-line and donate by credit card at http://www.givenow.psu.edu/TriangleExcellenceEndowment or you can call, toll free, 877-888-5646, Monday-Friday.

Here's some special cool stuff:

GOLD Match Details

For Penn State Graduates of the Last Decade-our GOLD alumni-there is a way to make GivingTuesday support go twice as far. Any gift made by a GOLD Penn Stater to a GivingTuesday campaign will be matched 1:1 by the University up to $100! Note that GOLD is defined by the years that follow one's most recent Penn State degree.

Future Donor Match Details

New for 2021, any first-time alumni donors to the University, including the Triangle Academic Excellence Endowment Fund, who make a gift of at least $25 to a GivingTuesday campaign will have their contribution boosted with an additional $25 from the Peter Weiler Family Endowment in Advancement and Philanthropy!

All your donations on this GivingTuesday campaign are tax deductible.

Alumni Spotlight

In this month’s newsletter, we will be featuring Brother Daniel E. Ciolkosz, Ph.D., P.E.

Brother Daniel E. Ciolkosz

Dr. Ciolkosz is an associate research professor in Penn State’s Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering.  He works to help Pennsylvania’s farms and related businesses develop bioenergy opportunities and improve energy efficiency.  He is the extension program co-lead for Penn State’s renewable energy extension effort.  He organizes Penn State’s Bioenergy Short Course Series, participates in Pennsylvania’s State Wood Energy Team and Fuels for Schools groups, and is an active participant in the USDA Sustainable Farm Energy regional project.  He is also the coordinator of Penn State’s graduate program in Biorenewable Systems, and is co-chair of Penn State’s Center for Biorenewables.  His research interests include biomass densification processes, thermochemical conversion, and farm energy benchmarking.

“I joined the House Renovations Team because it's a way that I can help out, and I enjoy the occasional renovation project.  I've stayed involved because it's good to see old friends and make new ones from among the brotherhood - that plus the sense of accomplishment from seeing the house's overall condition slowly but surely rise.  John Decker's discourses on plumbing are a thing of beauty, by the way.”

House Alumni Room Rentals

To take advantage of unoccupied rooms in the house, Triangle Facilities has prepared rooms for rental by Alumni. The rooms can be reviewed/reserved for this coming football season. Rates for weekend rentals are $300 for the weekend. Contact John Decker; johndecker251@gmail.com to visit the house. Contact our treasurer, Rob Solomon rbs151@gmail.com to discuss renting a room.
