Yearbook

The yearbooks have arrived! If you have already purchased one your homeroom teacher will receive it and hand to you on Monday afternoon.

If you have not pre-ordered, Mme Bourdages will be selling any leftover copies, for 20$, in room 204 first recess today and Monday.

Dress for the

weather

A reminder that you should dress for the weather. Rain was announced yesterday, and you left home and it was raining. When we know well in advance that it is going to rain, one should bring rain wear because the best place for everyone during recess, is outside, enjoying the fresh air.

Yearbook

The yearbooks are expected to arrive tomorrow! If you have already purchased one then your homeroom teacher will receive it and hand to you. Strings and Band Students

All strings and band students are reminded to return all borrowed instruments, books and materials by tomorrow at the latest.

All grade 8 string students who have not yet completed their composition/performance test are asked to see Mr. Yates during first recess tomorrow.

***Any instruments, books, materials that are not returned, and any string student having not completed the composition/performance test, will not have entry into the dance Friday.***

Board Athletics

Congratulations to all students-athletes who participated in the Board Track and Field Championships yesterday. In total we had 17 athletes represent our school. An amazing accomplishment.

Here are some highlights:

Monique Morris 6th in Bantam girls 100 m;

Michael Bradely 5th in Bantam boys 200 m;

Saif Awad 7th in Bantam boys shot put;

Zoe May 1st in two events 800m and 1500m;

Connor Fraser 1st in High Jump;

Emediong Ekong   2nd in High Jump and 1st in 100m.

Junior Track and Field

What a great day yesterday with the Junior Track and Field Team. 52 athletes from Alta Vista went competing in 7 different events. A big congratulations to all 52 students. Grade 5 girls and the grade 4 boys finished 2nd over all for their age group. Grade 6 boys finished 3rd over all for their age group. When calculating all our points for Alta Vista, we ranked 4th out of 19 schools! What a team!

Special mention for these athletes who were in the top ten of their overall ranking:

Icyeza, Brady Brown, Brody Fraser, Dianabasi, Henry Mcpherson, Patrick Vos Smith, Kathleen Lepin, Duncan Fowler and Scott Lankester.

Junior Track Meet

All athletes participating in the Junior Track and Field Meet need to be in the gym at 8:15 tomorrow morning (Wednesday the 14). Please arrive on time. Reminder to tell your parents you will be returning to school only at 4:30. Students who do not have their Trip Permission Form signed will not be coming. If you have your Trip Permission Form, bring it to Mme Thériault in room 113 As Soon As Possible.

Weather Warning

A heat warning has been issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) for June 11 and June 12, 2017. A heat warning is issued when the temperature is expected to exceed 31°C during the daytime and the night time temperature will not be cooler than 20°C or a humidex of 40 C is forecast for two consecutive days.

Tips and advice during hot weather:

  • Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day, preferably water;
  • Avoid or be very cautious if engaging in strenuous physical activity outdoors;
  • Limit or avoid direct exposure to the sun and look for shade;

Board Track and Field

To all intermediate track and field members who qualified for the Board event happening this Thursday please meet Mr. Walker in Room 200 for a short meeting at the beginning of second recess. Anyone who finished in the top 6 for in their event and top 4 for the 4 x100 relay qualified for the board meet.
