Course:

Runners will tackle a new-for-2021 2.5k course consisting of rolling, grassy ski trails. Middle school will race one lap, JV and Varsity will race two laps for 5k. A map is included at the end of this info packet. The course is closed to runners during races. Coaches and spectators may walk on the course.

Teams are strongly encouraged to avoid warming up on the road. We have had many incidents involving runners and cars recently and we ask that you help the Outdoor Center retain positive relationships with our community by warming up on trails. Teams who are found to be running on the road more than 2 wide will be given 1 warning and then barred from starting. The rest of the COC trail network is open for warming up.

Race formats:

Top 4 runners score for MS team awards; race is open to all MS competitors

Top 5 runners score for Varsity, 6th and 7th displace; 6th runner breaks ties.

Race is open to all JV competitors, no awards for JV

Registration:

All runners must be registered by 8pm on Wednesday, October 13th. Any substitutions for the Varsity race must be submitted via email to the race director by Friday, October 15th at 8pm.

Fees:

We are timing this event by hand using Webscorer and stopwatch backup, so the cost is low. Please pay $5 per runner. Checks can be made out to the Craftsbury Outdoor Center. Schools must bring a copy of their S-3 tax exempt form, available here, with their check. Checks and forms must be delivered by race day.

Parking:

Team busses should park in the lower lot of the Outdoor Center, located north of the main office and upper parking lot. No busses should park in the upper lot.

Overflow parking for spectators is located in the field north of the lower lot.

Bathrooms:

Buildings at the Outdoor Center are not open to the public due to the COVID 19 pandemic. A toilet trailer is located on the edge of the upper parking lot (halfway up the hill behind the start/finish field). Two portable toilets are located in the lower parking lot near the bus parking.

Awards:

Trophies will be presented to the first placed boys’ and girls’ teams in each category (MS, JV, V). Medals will be awarded to the top 10 individual finishers in each race.
