Location: Woburn or Boston (MA), In-Office with Hybrid options available
Duration: Summer 2024 and Fall 2024
About Us:
The Desai Foundation is an international nonprofit with a mission to empower women and children through community programming to elevate health, livelihood, and menstrual equity in rural India. Our internship program offers students and recent graduates the opportunity to enhance their skills while contributing to our mission. We are currently seeking interns in various departments, including Operations, Marketing, Development, Fundraising, Events, and Administration, for the Summer 2024 and Fall 2024 internship terms.
Position Overview:
As an intern at the Desai Foundation, you will have the chance to work closely with our experienced team both in the US and India and gain hands-on experience in your chosen field. This internship is designed to provide you with valuable insights, real-world experience, and networking opportunities while contributing to our organization's growth and impact.
Responsibilities:
- Help maintain and update the donor database, ensuring accurate records of all donations and communications.
- Assist in crafting personalized thank-you notes, emails, and other correspondence to donors.
- Conduct research on potential grant opportunities that align with the Desai Foundation’s mission and goals.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of grant proposals, including drafting narratives and compiling required documentation.
- Create compelling narratives that showcase the Desai Foundation's success and resonate with donors on a personal level.
- Assist in the creation and distribution of outreach materials to increase awareness of the Desai Foundation’s programs and initiatives.
- Assist in the development and upkeep of fundraising materials, such as brochures, decks, and digital content.
- Assist in the management of donor engagement initiatives, helping to champion our donors and foster community cultivation.
- Take on additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned by the Development team, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to learn and grow within the role.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a degree program or recently graduated
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proactive, self-motivated, and eager to learn
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Ability to work independently and part of a team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Previous experience or passion for the non-profit sector would be considered an asset
