SCMAC Programs -
We take part in public and school events to inform residents about mosquitoes, their life cycle and habitat, and how they spread diseases.
Residents are also informed about how the SCMAC program works and what services are offered.
By reducing the habitat of mosquitoes, especially artificial, we can limit the spread of mosquitoes, and thus disease.
Our annual tire drives is one such method.
Our Biology Department monitors mosquito, bird, and disease activity around the county. Equipment and products are regularly tested and calibrated for efficiency.
By treating water during the day, we target the 2nd and 3rd stages of the mosquito life cycle. This proactive measure prevents mosquitoes from maturing into adults, thus limiting the spread of disease.
This is a reactive program targets mosquito adults. Our trucks spray during the night after sunset when the adults are most active. The ULV sprayers are calibrated to target only mosquitoes.
Our truck fitted with a Buffalo Turbine sprayer, treats public areas such as parks and golf course. Its spray creates a barrier between the most frequented areas and the woods or mosquito breeding habitat.
