Principal’s Message

Congratulations to Mrs. Marland, Mrs. Baisie and Montclaire Bus Drive, Mr. Mike!

At last night’s CUSD Board meeting, these three amazing Montclaire staff members were honored. Mrs. Marland and Mrs. Baisie were honored in the Newly Tenured Teacher Recognition Ceremony and Mr. Mike was honored as the September Classified Employee of the Month for CUSD. Montclaire is a great place because of the dedication of our staff! Thank you to the Montclaire staff and community members who came out to celebrate them!

Thank you to the parents who attended the PBIS assembly and Principal’s Coffee this morning! It’s always nice to see so many parents.

Just a reminder that next week is another short week. There is no school on Friday, September 20th, it is an In-Service day for staff.

Enjoy the sunshine this weekend!

~Mrs. Alison Luvara

Bike Rodeo

September 25th we will be hosting the SafeMoves Bike Rodeo for Grades 4 and 5.

As we begin a new school year it is important to have these conversations around bike and pedestrian safety, here are a few tips for biking (driving) around Montclaire:

  • Always proceed with caution when heading home down St. Joseph towards Deodara. The bikes have the right of way and should proceed with caution, although it can be difficult for oncoming traffic to see bikes coming down the hill. Be aware!
  • Bicyclists and pedestrians should always look both ways when crossing at any stop sign or traffic signal.
  • Leave a good stopping distance when riding near other bikers. When riding in groups, riders need to leave enough stopping distance should the person in front of them brake suddenly.
  • Make sure there are no pedestrians behind you when you take bikes out of the bike rack and please walk the bike to the sidewalk/crosswalk.
  • Anytime bicyclists are on campus you should always walk your bike! It is safer than riding around pedestrians.

If your student rides a bike to school, please share these points with them!

Thank you everyone who made a Direct Donation to MPTO during our Giving Is Fun Together (GIFT) Week.  A total of 85 families participated and were entered into the raffle.  Our principal, Alison Luvara drew the winning raffle on Monday, September 6 and we are excited to announce that the winner of the name your own street sign is the Sheth/Hindia family!

Our fundraising effort is at about 18% participation rate, but we can do better!  Our goal is 100% participation and we need your help to get there.  If you haven’t donated yet, you can make your donation at  If you have any questions you can email us at  Remember, it's for the kids!

The 5K team needs student volunteers for a variety of positions.  If you have a middle or high school student who is looking for volunteer hours this is an excellent opportunity.

Our largest community and fundraising event of the year is currently at risk. Repeat families know how fun WATSA (the Montclaire Walk-A-Thon and Silent Auction) is for the kids. However, this event is paramount for funding programs at Montclaire. This event contributes about 30% of our overall fundraising goal. Without this event, some of our valuable resources, like TOSAs, may be at risk this school year.

We need parent volunteers to make it happen! You don’t have to take positions on solo. You can coordinate with a friend and share a role. Our most critical positions are:

WATSA Program Manager

WAT (WALKATHON) Program Manager

SA (SILENT AUCTION) Program Manager

Please contact Thushitha Deepak or Cindy Klaje at if you are interested in learning more about these positions or if you have any questions.
