This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) outlines how California Environmental Justice Alliance (“CEJA,” “we,” “us,” and “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you visit our website and use our products and services (collectively, with our website, the “Services”). CEJA is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information.

This Policy applies to information that we collect through our website as well as through your use of Services generally, and through communications between you and us, including via our website, email, and text. It also applies to information that may be collected through surveys that you complete.

Please review this Policy carefully. By accessing or using the Services, you agree to the terms of this Policy on behalf of yourself or the entity or organization that you represent. If you do not agree to any term in this Policy, you should refrain from further use of the Services. You may choose not to provide certain personal information, but this may limit your ability to engage with CEJA or access certain features of our Services.

2. Children Using or Accessing our Services

The Company and our Services are not intended for nor directed at children under the age of 13. No one under the age of 13 may provide any personal information to or on the Services. Please note that we do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If you are under 13, please do not use or register for our Services or communicate any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, or email address. If it is determined that we have inadvertently collected or received personal information from a child under the age of 13, we shall immediately take the necessary steps to ensure the deletion of such information from our system’s database. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under the age of 13 has given us information, please contact us by using the information in the “Contact Us” section listed below.

This Policy was last revised on the date noted at the top of this page. CEJA reserves the right to update or modify this Policy at any time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting the revised Policy on our website. Your continued use of the Services after we make changes is deemed to be acceptance of those changes, so please check this Policy periodically for updates.

6. Disclosure of Personal Information

We may disclose personal information:

2. if we become involved with a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of the CEJA’s assets, to business entities or people involved in the negotiation or transfer;
3. to comply with any court order, law, or legal process, including to respond to any government or regulatory request;
4. if we believe disclosure will help us protect the rights, property, or safety of the Company, our users, partners, agents, and others, including exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection, and spam and malware prevention; and
5. to fulfill the purpose for which you provided the information, and for any other purpose disclosed by us when you provide the information, or with your consent.

We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties for marketing or other services.

7. Data Security

1. We implement technical, administrative, and physical safeguards to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction that are appropriate for an organization of our type and size.
2. While the security of personal information is important to CEJA, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. CEJA strives to use industry best practices to protect personal information, but cannot guarantee its absolute security.
3. Unauthorized entry or use, hardware or software failure, and other factors may compromise the security of personal information at any time. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on our Services.

8. Browser Controls

Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems include a Do-Not-Track (“DNT”) feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. At this stage no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online. If a standard for online tracking is adopted that we must follow in the future, we will inform you about that practice in a revised version of this privacy notice.

Most web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can usually choose to set your browser to remove cookies and to reject cookies. If you choose to remove cookies or reject cookies, this could affect certain features or services of the Services.

9. Links to Other Websites

CEJA’s website contains links to other websites owned and managed by third parties. CEJA is not held responsible for data and privacy protection for any external websites visited through a link. Policy does not extend to external websites.
