Master Classes are the signature Academy for Teachers experience and offer teachers an opportunity to spend a day with and learn from an expert in their field.

Workshops are led by mentors and cover topics that concern the early career teacher. Whatever the topic, they offer a space for mentors to share their wisdom and to model great teaching.

Excursions and Community-Building Events are a way to foster organic bonding between mentors and mentees while engaging in meaningful experiences. Based on their shared interests, mentors will plan excursions with their mentees and groups can choose to attend together. A community-wide special event will be open to all from the Fellowship.

Problems of Practice” refers to real, recurring challenges that educators face in their teaching practice. These are specific, practical issues that impact student learning, classroom management, or instructional effectiveness. The “Problems of Practice” protocol allows teachers to present a specific issue, receive structured feedback, and collaboratively explore potential solutions in a way that encourages reflection, peer learning, and actionable problem-solving.

1:1 Mentoring Hour provides dedicated time for personalized guidance, where veteran educators offer support, answer questions, share best practices, and help early career Fellows navigate challenges in teaching and school culture.

Best Lesson Exchange is an opportunity for Fellows in the second year of the program to share their best lessons with one another and receive constructive feedback on their teaching.

Show Teachers the Love! is an annual variety show organized by The Academy for Teachers to celebrate educators. Held in early May during National Teacher Month, the event features performances by comedians, musicians, and other artists, creating a joyful atmosphere to honor teachers. A highlight of the evening is the presentation of the Woodridge Award for Great Teachers, where successful individuals honor the educators who significantly impacted their lives. Early Career Fellows & their mentors are guests of honor and are given free tickets.
