Dear Parents,

Happy New Year to one and all!  I hope you had a wonderful, restful, and memorable Christmas and New Year's with your family and friends!

Our Christmas Party was delightful and fun!  The children loved their gift exchange!  Thank you to Mrs. Amiwero and Mrs. Keener (our room moms) who helped make the party a success!  Thank you to the parents who helped set up and clean up afterwards!  It was very much appreciated!

The Christmas concert went beautifully!  We hope you enjoyed all the hard work the children put into it!  Thank you to the parents who brought cookies, brownies or drinks for everyone to enjoy after the concert!

This week’s spelling list increases with three vocabulary words along with their definitions.  We began the list early the week before Christmas break so they could get an early start.  Please work with your child to help them prepare for this increase in their spelling list and in the future spelling lists.  Thank you for working so hard with your child!

The A.C.S.I. Spelling Bee has begun!  Mrs. Horn sent home a letter explaining it along with the easy and average list for the children to study during Christmas vacation.  We will be having competitions in class to determine who will represent the 2nd grade.  Two children will be chosen from each grade!  Have fun preparing for it!

The children will be doing a Diorama Book Report that will be due on Monday, February 5.  A letter will be sent home explaining how to do a diorama.  The children may choose their own book with the teacher’s approval this week.  The children have a month to read their book and complete their diorama.  Their project will be displayed at Open House for all to see!

This Thursday, January 11, will be a Show-n-Tell.  The children may bring an inexpensive, non-breakable item to share with the class with the permission of their parents.

Dollar Day will be on this Friday, January 12.

No school on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Blessings,

Mrs. Owens
