Sydney Nerf Simplified Rules

Players
- Don’t be a dick. We’re “mostly adults” playing with childrens toys. Have fun
- Ages over 11+
- Under 18s, need to be supervised by parental/ guardian unless otherwise given written permission by SN Admin Team
- Under 11s, contact Admin first
- If it is your first event, your parent or guardian must be present for the duration of the event.
- Clean up after yourself & leave nothing behind (dart sweeping included)
- Wear rated safety glasses on field at all times
- Do not fire into or from staging area and admin tent
Attire
- *No Full Battle Dress Uniforms (Milsim, Ghillie suits, etc.)
- *No face coverings or full face masks
- *No Helmets unless for the mounting of action cameras
*Relaxed ruleset for private outdoor fields (eg. JBE) and select private indoor fields
Blasters
- Outdoor Venues
- 350 FPS w/ minimum engagement distance (MED) inside 10m
- 180 FPS = no minimum engagement distance required
- Indoor Venues
- Orange tips mandatory
- Brightly coloured blasters and mags (Except private outdoor fields eg. JBE and select private indoor fields
- HPA/ LPA/ CO2 Blasters
- Need to have air components built into the blaster (eg. Covered within stock or within shell).
- An exception to this is, remote lines are only allowed at JBE and select private indoor fields.
- To be inspected by admins for approval prior to use
- No hard vinyl tipped 'nipple' darts
- No sharp edges, hot glue domes or darts that utilise metallic weights
- No Nerf Hyper Ammo
Melee
- Melee weapons must not exceed 150cm in length.
- Small melee (less than 50cm in length) can be thrown to count as a Tag.
- Melee weapons must be made of a material that renders a soft impact (foam)
- Melee weapons can deflect darts. This means any tags on melee weapons do not count as a tag.
Shields
- Shields must not exceed a surface area of 0.72m² (A good size is 60x120cm or 0.95m diameter if round)
- Shields must not have any sharp edges
- Shields must not be of metal material
- “Pistols” are the only blaster allowed to be used by shield-bearers
- Shield players cannot play objective (Can’t be a medic, flag bearer, hill holder)
- Shields may be limited on teams to keep team balance
- Shields must be inspected by Admins prior to use at events
Shield Breakers
- Demolisher rockets
- Titan rockets
- Nerf Pocket Howlers and off-brand alternatives
- Nerf Mega Howlers and off-brand alternatives
- Must be thrown under-arm
- Must NOT be thrown directly at another player
- When thrown, the thrower must announce in a loud clear voice 'GRENADE!'
- Grenade must not be thrown more than 20m
- Honesty is required from all players if they are hit by the sub-projectiles from this grenade
Pistol Definition
- Semi-auto only (no full auto). One trigger pull, one shot.
- No magazine fed blasters
- 12 round maximum internal capacity.
- Maximum of 150fps
- Form and function must be a recognised pistol. No attachments
Gameplay
Tags
- You’re tagged if a dart hits you or your gear (including blaster)
- If you have a original Nerf Shield on your blaster, any tags to your blaster doesn’t count
- Trades are possible
- If unclear whether a tag has happened, both respawn or notify Ref
- Tag = no ricochets from hard surfaces
- Dead people don’t talk (other than calling out “I’m hit!”)
- Tag first, ask questions later (eg. if player doesn’t have hand raised to signal they’re out)
Shield/ Melee Tags
- If two shields come in contact, it is considered a tag for both shield bearers.
- Players may gently tap a player for a tag
Respawning
- 3m Radius from Base Marker protection
- Newbies get one respawn after Sudden Death is called (First 3 events only)
- Must touch bollard to respawn with either hand or blaster
Break
- Short = 3mins
- Long = 5mins
Gamemodes and Variants
TDM = Eliminate the other team. Sudden Death (no respawn) after 3 mins
CTF = Capture both flags
- Cannot defend own flag within 3m radius
KOTH = Hold the capture point for 3 mins total
Meat Grinder (TDM Variant) = Least number of respawns wins
Medic Variant = Respawns only possible via team medic (after sudden death is called)
VIP Variant = Protect your teams VIP and eliminate the other teams VIP
