Support for Veterans
They make it quick and easy by being your first point of contact for whatever support you need, whether you are based in the UK or abroad.
Many of their team are veterans themselves so they understand the issues that people face after leaving the Armed Forces. They work with people on a one-to-one basis, connecting them with the right support as soon as possible.
Veterans’ Gateway is made up of a consortium of organisations and Armed Forces charities, including The Royal British Legion, SSAFA – the Armed Forces charity, Poppyscotland, Combat Stress and Connect Assist.

Sussex Armed Forces Network - (SAFN) is a multi-organisational group which includes members from the NHS, MoD, Armed Forces Reservists, Mental and Physical Health Clinicians, the Royal British Legion, SSAFA and other interested charities and organisations from across Sussex (i.e. police and local authorities). The members work together to improve the lives of the armed forces community (ex and serving personnel and their immediate families). The network also includes champions from a wide range of the organisations across Sussex who are advocates for the armed forces community and have the skills and knowledge to support through direct service provision, linking with other organisations or signposting to where additional support could be received.
Pathways - Joining Forces Training were successful in their bid to develop and understand specific pathways and services in Sussex for the Armed Forces Community. Their focus is on homelessness, housing, physical health, mental health, education and training, employment, social Care. Full details of the pathways can be viewed on the Sussex Armed Forces Network Pathways page of their website.

Champions - the Champions in Sussex are there to try and embed a wealth of knowledge in local organisations about the Armed Forces. Their role is to support both clients and staff who are part of the Armed Forces Community. They are individuals who champion for the armed forces community within their organisation. Through training and development they understand the culture of the armed forces community and use this to design their services.
There are nearly 150 trained Champions within Sussex and the training provided for the individuals helps them to better understand how to engage with the Armed Forces Community, understand how they can support their organisation to help this group, understand how they can gain support from other services/charities, reinforcing the integration between communities.
A resource pack is given to each individual to use when they return to their organisation. The resource pack is updated as when and when required in line with changes to services and facilities. There is also a network of champions who can support each other and share best practice.
