Most other business is suspended for this meeting to facilitate the Candidates Forum.
Community Resource Officer Report (Officer Old, Norfolk PD)
Continued focus on shoplifting at K&K Shopping Center. Officers have video footage and have ID’d the suspect.
Larceny of License Plates
Officers are doing more speed enforcement in the area, particularly considering the recent pedestrian fatality on Little Creek.
Officers are focusing on vagrants in the Wards Corner area and have recently charged 4 people.
Neighbor complaint of packages taken from front porch of a residence on Granby Park.
Each candidate received 8 minutes to for speeches and Q&A. Order determined by the order of the sample ballot for the May 1st election.
City Council Ward 2 Candidates present: Courtney Doyle, Don Roby, Tom Warburton.
School Board Ward 2 Candidates present: Tanya Bhasin, Nate Kennison, Brittany Shearer.
Key discussion topics: New taxes and funding allocations for schools, neighborhood safety, sea-level rise, economic development, poverty, teacher pay.

EARNN: Pearl Windle will be going through the first training shortly.
Wards Corner Task Force: Karen Mayne to attend upcoming meeting of the advisory committee and will report back on progress at the May meeting.
Meeting minutes from March meeting have not been posted to the website. Minutes will be put up for approval at the next meeting.
Day of Community Service event for April 11th with Norfolk Collegiate has been cancelled due to snow day catch up.
Reminder about recycling electronics, motor oil, and other materials at Honda of Norfolk off Tidewater Drive.
Reminder to neighbors to sign up for Nextdoor.com for important information and updates from the city and the community.
Next Meeting will be on May 14, 2018 and will feature a speaker from the Norfolk Botanical Garden.
The civic league is seeking volunteers to bring refreshments to meetings for all months in the 2nd half of the year. Expenses will be reimbursed up to $40 and each host has discretion in the type and amount of refreshments provided.
Member concerns and notes: Pete Bastinelli expressed concern about the proposed tax increase and how it might be implemented. Member urged neighbors to participate in the upcoming forums discussing the proposed tax increase and the proposed budget to hold the city accountable for making sure the money allocated goes where it is supposed to go. First meeting upcoming next Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Granby High School.
