About the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation and this Policy

Patrick J. McGovern Foundation, Inc. (“PJMF”, “We”, “Us” or “Our”) provides this Privacy Policy (“Policy”) to describe how we collect, use, and share information associated with our current, past, and prospective business partners, grant partners, and other organizations with whom we work (“Client”, “Clients”) that interact with us and our services. This Policy applies to information we collect when you use our website at www.mcgovern.org or PJMF’s products and services (collectively, the “Services”).

We may change this Policy from time to time to reflect our information practices. If we change this Policy, we will notify you by posting the revised policy with the updated effective date at the top of the Policy.  We encourage you to review the Policy whenever you access the Services to stay informed about our information practices.

Information you provide to us

We collect information you provide directly through your interactions with us.  For example, we collect information about you when you create an account; use the Services; fill out a form; sign-up for our newsletter; submit and/or update a grant proposal, organizational contact information, or account information; provide reporting on a grant; request technical support; attend a meeting or event; correspond with us regarding the status of your grant project; or otherwise communicate with us. The types of information we may collect include your name, email address, postal address, professional affiliation, financial information in order to disburse grant funding, and any other information you choose to provide to us through any communication channel.

Information we collect automatically when you use the Services

When you access or use our Services, we may automatically collect information about you, including:

• Log information: We may log information about your use of the Services, including the type of browser you use, internet service provider, clickstream data, date/time stamp, pages and files viewed on our site (e.g., HTML pages, graphics, etc.), your IP address and the page you visited before navigating to our Services.
• Device information: We may collect information about the computer or mobile device you use to access our Services, including the hardware model, operating system and version, unique device identifiers and mobile network information.
• Information collected by cookies and other tracking technologies: The Services use cookies and similar technologies. A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers that we store on your browser or the hard drive of your device. Cookies contain information about the Services and your use of the Services that is transmitted to your device. Information from third parties

We may collect information about you from public sources and from third parties as permitted by law. In addition, we may receive information related to you when our grant partners seek our support or provide reporting on various aspects of their grant projects.

Social Media Widgets

Our website includes social media features, such as interactive mini-programs that run on our website. These features may collect your IP address, which page you are visiting on our website, and may set a cookie to enable the feature to function properly. Social media features are either hosted by a third party or hosted directly on our website. Your interactions with these features are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing it, and we do not control the privacy practices of these companies.

Use of Information

We use information about you for various purposes, including to:

• Engage in activities that fulfill the mission of PJMF including administering our grant-making programs and delivering technical assistance through our Data & Society Program;
• Inform others about our grant-making programs and promote programs that we support;
• Provide, maintain and improve our Services and products;
• Provide and deliver the products and services you request, process transactions, and to send you related information;
• Send you technical notices, updates, security alerts, and support and administrative messages;
• Respond to your comments, questions and requests, and provide technical support;
• Assist with the development of our Services and other purposes related to PJMF’s activities;
• Monitor and analyze trends, usage and activities in connection with our Services; 
• Solicit and process your opinions through surveys;
• Secure data and prevent fraud;
• Manage our business relationship with you; and
• For other purposes for which we may obtain your consent

Sharing of Information

We may share information about you as follows: 

• With third-party vendors, consultants and other service providers who need access to your information to carry out work on our behalf, such as providing product and service functionality, customer service, processing funding disbursements, and conducting research and analysis; these companies are authorized to use personal information only as necessary to provide their services to us;
• With Foundation Trustees who help manage and oversee our work;
• With any affiliates or partners that we may have in the future;
• As required by applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request;
• To enforce applicable user agreements or policies, including our Master Technology Agreement and other similar agreements;
• To protect PJMF, our users or the public from harm or illegal activities; and
• With PJMF business partners who offer solutions and services complementary to PJMF.  

We may also share aggregated or de-identified information, which cannot reasonably be used to identify you, without limitation.

Some of our pages may include links to third-party websites. Please be aware that any personal information you provide to these third parties is not governed by this Policy, and we do not control the practices of such third parties. We suggest that you review the privacy statement of any third-party website you visit before providing personal information.

Third-Party Analytics

PJMF performs analytics regarding the functioning of our website. Specifically, PJMF uses an integrated version of Google Analytics. Your Rights and Information Choices

Promotional communications

We may periodically send you promotional newsletters and e-mails from PJMF. You may opt-out of such emails at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions provided in the e-mail you receive or by submitting a request to unsubscribe using the information in the “Contact Us” section below. Please note that if you opt-out of promotional emails, we may still send you information regarding your relationship with us, such as information regarding the status of a grant project or proposal.
