Teachers at TREE Academy are not just educators, but also passionate, and dedicated members of the innovative TREE learning community. We value and support all of the crucial roles each teacher fills in guiding students on their educational journey, embodying our unique philosophy in a supportive and caring environment. TREE Academy is seeking inspired educators who will engage with our students in a progressive, constructivist manner, infusing rigor and joy into the curriculum. We center student-driven experiential learning, engaged with the community and in social justice, through our core and elective courses. Our teachers are learners, embracing a culture of growth and collaboration in exploring how to best cultivate development and mastery of content and durable skills across and between disciplines. We are accepting applications from teachers across all subjects for grade 6-12.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging and student-centered curriculum plans in relevant core academic subjects
- Secondary teaching responsibilities in our elective program and across disciplines, depending upon background and experience
- Engage in various facets of student and school life, including co- and extracurricular activities
- Create a positive classroom environment that encourages open dialogue and active participation
- Implement current and relevant teaching methods, technologies, and resources to meet individual student needs
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and innovate curriculum; and, modify as necessary to accommodate students individual learning needs
- Serve as a positive role model, upholding the mission and values of TREE Academy
- Manage classroom behavior using restorative practices and contribute to maintaining a respectful and inclusive atmosphere
- Maintain clear communication with students, families, and colleagues to support student success
- Participate in professional development and faculty meetings to continuously improve teaching practices
- Attend Open Houses and other school events as needed to engage with the school community
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University (Master’s degree preferred)
- Teaching credential (preferred but not required)
- Relevant content knowledge, with experience in developing curriculum and pedagogy
- Experience in progressive, competency-based, and experiential education preferred
- Passion for fostering authentic learning experiences for students
- Dedication to the whole-person development of young people, including enthusiasm for positive identity development and diversity, equity, and inclusion work
- Background in learning differences and social-emotional learning
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including a high degree of cultural competency
- Commitment to anti-bias practices in the classroom
- Proficient computer skills with Google Drive and Applications
