Dear Mrs Jacinda Ardern,
I am writing to acknowledge the work you have done helping our country get through the COVID-19 pandemic.
I think you did an amazing job trying to keep the number of cases, and deaths low in New Zealand. When it started to affect our country, you acted quickly by shutting the borders and moving everyone to Alert Level 4. Lots of people did not suffer from the virus because of your quick actions. Many people have recovered from the virus, and our facility rate is extremely low. Compared to other countries, New Zealand stats stand out due to the low number of cases we have got.
Thank you for making lots of rules that keep us safe from the virus. Using some of your time to give the country updates on cases was well appreciated by lots of people. Online learning was introduced quickly to New Zealand when you closed schools. The rules during lockdown were difficult to follow for many people, but because we all worked together. We are getting closer to banishing the virus from our country.
During lockdown, I created a lot of homemade things. While I was not completing school work, I sewed a soft toy and created a movie about fun stuff I did in lockdown. Also, because I could not interact with my friends, I constantly FaceTimed them. My family did a lot of cooking and baking, and we enjoyed lots of delicious treats. Despite all the rules, we all entertained ourselves somehow.
Yours sincerely,
Mia Millichamp
