Scholarship Information
Lafayette County Tuition (TAP)
FAFSA/Financial Aid
FAFSA ( Free Application for Federal Student Aid) opens on December 1st. https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa.
MS Financial Aid (MAAPP) opens on October 1st. https://www.msfinancialaid.org/
Why is FAFSA and MS Student Aid so important?
- Students and parents must complete the FAFSA to receive financial aid for colleges or trade schools. Some financial aid awards have deadlines so completing FAFSA as early as possible is important.
- Students and parents must complete the FAFSA to receive most scholarships through colleges and trade schools (even if you think you will not qualify for financial aid). Most colleges will not release scholarship money if FAFSA has not been completed and many scholarships have deadlines that must be met, so completing FAFSA as early as possible is important.
- You can only receive the Lafayette Tuition Assistance if you complete FAFSA.
- FAFSA and MS Financial Aid must be completed to apply for the Mississippi Grants.
- All students are encouraged to complete their FAFSA and MS Financial Aid. Students who may not plan on attending a college or trade school sometimes find themselves at the end of the school year in a situation where perhaps the military or job opportunity didn’t work out and they decide they would like to attend college. They could miss out on different financial aid and scholarship opportunities if they haven’t completed the FAFSA or MS Financial Aid.
- Recommended deadline - February 1st
You do not have to complete the FAFSA before you can apply to colleges or scholarships. You can apply to colleges and scholarships then complete FAFSA and MS Financial Aid when it opens.
