The Math Placement test will be offered on campus at Faith Lutheran on the first two Saturdays in May; May 1st & 8th.  This test is open to all students currently applying, accepted, or enrolled and does not determine admission to the school but is used solely to determine your student’s math placement for the 21-22 school year.  We ask that families prioritize this test and register as soon as possible to confirm attendance to one of the days.  Out of state families will not travel for the test, please email the admissions office directly at admissions@flhsemail.org for details.

This placement test was created by the middle school and high school Math Departments to place students specifically into math classes at Faith Lutheran Middle School and High School.  This is not a national standardized test.  Math class placement is subject to change.  Math courses and descriptions can be found in the Curriculum Guide: Middle School Math Classes: www.faithlutheranlv.org/msmath High School Math Classes: www.faithlutheranlv.org/hsmath. We know that this past year has been extremely difficult for many students in Las Vegas.  It is our goal to place students in the appropriate class that will meet their needs academically and avoid any foundational gaps in knowledge moving forward.

We appreciate your partnership in helping us prepare for the upcoming school year.

In His Service,

Sarah Harper, Middle School Principal                        Scott Fogo, High School Principal

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Why is the Math Placement test required?
  1. The initial admissions exam was waived for applicants for the 21-22 school year, however, the Math Placement exam has always been a requirement before entering the school.  Math instruction is varied and inconsistent between schools in and out of state (for example, Core Math versus a more traditional math curriculum).  Faith Lutheran’s college preparatory math curriculum is challenging and advanced.  With students coming from a wide-spread of elementary, middle and high schools from across the valley and various states, it is important to us that students are placed in the most appropriate math class that fits their acquired knowledge and skill level.
  1. Should we study for this test?
  1. There is no study guide for this test as the goal of the exam is to place students in the Faith Lutheran math class that best fits their current skill level and acquired knowledge.  It will not benefit the student to cram for the placement exam as it might not be an accurate assessment.
  1. Does this test determine placement into Advanced or Honors Math classes?
  1. Requests for Advanced and Honors math classes are determined by meeting the prerequisite (see curriculum guide) as well as the math placement test.
  1. Can we retake or reschedule the test?
  1. This is determined on a case-by-case basis.  Please contact the admissions office.
  1. I still have questions, who should I contact?
  1. Admissions@flhsemail.org
