Fri. 6/1: Happy Hour 3:30 pm  Relax and unwind with a cup of java for only fifty cents.  Browse our magazines and books for the perfect entertainment while you savor your fresh brew.

Fri. 6/1: Pal-Mac LEGO® Robotics Demonstration 4-5 pm Bring your children for an terrific demonstration of what amazing things can be done with modern LEGO®.  The middle school students have a competitive team that has been working hard all year long to perfect their LEGO® skills, and now families are invited to see exactly what the team can do.  

Sat. 6/2: Saturday Matinee 2 pm Watch a comedy circa 1979 starring Bill Murray as a camp counsellor with a goofy sense of humor and lots of misfit children to supervise at a summer camp.  The movie was rated PG in 1979  and the library will show this to teens age 13 and up.  For those younger than 13, a parent or legal guardian must be in attendance.  As always, parental guidance is recommended.

Mon. 6/4: Macedon Senior Luncheon NOON

Tues. 6/5: Pre-School Music Class 2 pm  Four and five year old children are encouraged to attend this music class under the direction of Victoria Reid.  Miss Reid will introduce the children to different songs and various basic instruments in this that will continue on Tuesdays throughout the summer.  Music class is possible thanks to a grant from Friends of Macedon Public Library. Tues. 6/5: Dad Rocks!  4 pm Have fun making a gift to give dad for Father’s Day.  There is no charge to participate, but registration is requested.

Wed. 6/6: Honor Flight 6 pm  On D-Day what could be more appropriate than learning about a special program that honors our local veterans?  If you or someone you know is a veteran, please attend this presentation to find out how Honor Flight works to honor our vets with flights to Washington, DC.

Thurs. 6/7: Mahjong 2 pm  Play this ancient game of skill, luck and strategy.  All skill levels welcome!

Sat. 6/9: Puppy Tales 2 pm Are you looking for a great way to motivate your child to practice reading aloud?  Drop into the library and your child can take a turn reading to one of the dogs at the library.  This a great confidence builder for beginning readers of all ages!

Mon. 6/11: Role Playing Game (RPG) Interest Meeting 6 pm: The library would like to get an RPG Group started.  People of all ages with an interest in RPG are invited to attend this meeting to determine the interest in creating an RPG group.  We are willing to offer more than one type of group if interest permits.

Tues. 6/12: FREE Blood Pressure Check 5 pm  The Town of Macedon Ambulance will offer free blood pressure screenings from 5-7 pm at the library.

Wed. 6/13: Iris Folding 2 pm Join this group and make stunning cards for friends and family.  Bring pretty paper, cardstock, scissors, tape and glue. Current members of the group are always eager to teach beginners. The group meets in the teen corner of the library.

Wed. 6/13: Cooling Peppermint Spray 6 pm  Janice Moon will teach participants in this class how to make a cooling peppermint spray.  The spray is the perfect antidote to a scorching hot day and mildly sunburned skin.  There is a materials fee of $3 to make the spray.  Registration is also required.  Call 315-986-5932 to register your spot in the class.

Thurs. 6/14: Revisiting the Founding Era with Dr. Laura Free 6 pm  Join Dr. Free for a presentation on women in the Founding Era.  Funding for this presentation comes from a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Gilder Lehrman Foundation.  A special primer filled with first hand, primary source documents may be borrowed from the library prior to attending the presentation.  Dr. Free will give tips on reading primary source documents at the presentation.  Participants will discuss issues relevant to women during the Founding Era in relation to our current times to explore any connections that can be made.  Registration is required.

Sat. 6/16: Senior Craft 2 pm  Macedon Seniors are invited to make beautiful crocheted dishcloths.

Sat. 6/16: Needlework & Niceties 3 pm  Come to the library with your favorite type of needlework. Socialize with others as you enjoy doing your handiwork in the air conditioned library.

Sat. 6/16: Kitty Tales 3 pm  For young readers who prefer kitties to doggies, there will be a friendly kitty on hand at the library who loves to hear books read aloud.  Children of all ages are invited to drop-in and take a turn.

MONDAY, 6/18 THROUGH SATURDAY, 6/30: SUMMER READING SIGN-UPS:  Patrons of all ages can register to participate in our summer reading program.  This year the theme is: Libraries Rock!  We have planned lots of musical programs for your enjoyment.  We will also have fun prizes to incentivize your reading. There will be special parties for the kids who read throughout the summer, too!  While you are registering for summer reading, make sure you register for the great programs coming up! We have vocal and piano lessons with Tori Reid again this summer.  Don’t miss this great opportunity to receive music lessons for a very reasonable price (thanks to partial funding from Friends of Macedon Public Library).

Tues. 6/19: Summer Shell & Pearl Earrings 6 pm  Make a set of earrings perfect for a summer evening out or event.  Registration is required.  Thanks to a donation from a patron, there will be no fee for supplies.

Wed. 6/20: Impossible Daisy Card  6 pm Make the perfect card to show someone you care.  Registration required, no fee to attend.

Thurs. 6/21: MPL Friends Book Discussion Noon   Call the library for more details or to join.

Thurs. 6/21: MPL Friends Meeting 12:45  Do you love the library?  Join this group of patrons who work together to raise funds for the great programs offered at the library.  This is a great way to support the library while making new friends!

Fri. 6/22: TEEN LOCK-IN 5 pm  Teens will have the run of the library from 5 until 10 pm. Eat pizza, challenge a friend to a game and have fun hanging out together!  We will try out a new music game called Drop Mix Music Gaming System as a preview to this year’s summer reading theme being focused on music. Permission slip signed by a parent or legal guardian is due by Wednesday, June 20 and is required to participate.

Thurs. 6/28: Science Rocks! 10:30 am  Kids, ages 6 to 10 years old, will participate in fun science activities and engage in creative problem solving in this interactive, hands-on class. Class limited to 16 participants, registration required.  This fun class made possible by Pioneer Library System.

Sat. 6/30 Let the Magic Begin with Harry Potter!  2 pm

Children entering grades 3-6 are invited to hear the beginning of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone read aloud by local attorney, Denise Munson, Esq.  Listen as Denise brings the characters to life using an array of voices.  The library will have 20 copies of the book on hand for children to check out and read independently.  Those who finish the book will be able to participate in a special Wizards-in-Training party on Saturday, July 28 at 2 pm.  For more details, attend the program on June 30.  Registration for this program is required; call 315-986-5932 to reserve your spot.
