Getting here

From Caledonian Road Station

Exit Caledonian Road Station and turn left.

This is the junction of Caledonian Road and North Road.

Turn left at the traffic lights at the end of the road onto North Road.

Continue down North Road until you see the Pleasance banner and sign outside Carpenters Mews. Turn left into the courtyard.  

Entrance to the Venue

There is a staircase on the left of the picture. The courtyard is cobbled. There is the Depot pub on the right hand side of the picture.

The venue is situated on the first and second floors of the building at the back of a cobbled courtyard.

The main entrance is up a set of stairs to the left of the courtyard. There are 23 steps up the stairs.

These are glass double doors with one step up into the building. The entry is through the right hand double doors.

The main entrance has double doors with entry through the right hand door. There is one step up into the building.

Lift access is available. There is a doorbell at the bottom of the stairs to call for assistance and access to the lift.

The access will be through the left hand side of the double doors

Our staff will guide you to the entrance to the lift which is out of the courtyard and to the left as you exit.

There is a red ramp made of wood leading up into the lift. A member of staff is holding the door open.

There is a small ramp to get into the lift. The lift can take two people at a time. The access route enters through backstage and into the foyer by the bar.

Foyer

There are two positions at a lowered counter.

If you enter through the main entrance you can turn left to access the Box Office.

If you enter via the lift you can turn right and head to the end of the foyer to reach the Box Office. Just before a show goes in it can get very busy and noisy at Box Office but this shouldn’t last long.

At the Box Office you can book or collect tickets, find information about upcoming performances and also collect hearing loop equipment.

The Box Office has a lowered counter. Free Carer or Personal Assistant tickets are available on request.

You can pay by card or cash at the Box Office.

Tickets are unallocated unless otherwise stated. On your ticket it will state the Space, the Show Title, the Date and the Time as well as what type of ticket it is (e.g. Full Price or Personal Assistant).

As viewed from the Box Office. There are rows of tables and bar stools on the left hand side with the bar at the end of the long room.

The Foyer has level access to the Box Office, the Bar and the Accessible Toilet.

The Bar is at the opposite end of the foyer to the Box Office. If you enter via the main entrance you can turn right to access the bar. If you enter via the lift you can turn left in the foyer to reach the bar.

The bar is on the right hand side of the picture with a set of stairs opposite leading to the second floor. The access to the toilets are to the left of the bar.

The bar serves drinks and has a high counter. Please ask at the Box Office for assistance if you need help accessing the bar.

The bar does not serve food other than small snacks but there is a pub downstairs (the Depot) that serves food.

The bar offers drinks in glass or plastics and plastic straws are available on request.

The Front of House/Bar staff can be found behind the Bar before the show starts and will be able to assist you before, during and after the show. If you need any assistance, please ask for the Duty Manager.

The bar has 6 tables that are high and have bar stools for seating. If you need lowered seating or a different kind of chair, please let us know in advance of your visit by emailing access@pleasance.co.uk

Toilets

Access to the toilets is marked by a sign.

The toilets can be found to the left of the bar. There are two gender neutral toilets and one accessible toilet. The first set of gender neutral toilets has cubicles and the second set of gender neutral toilets has cubicles and urinals.

There is a baby change facility on the left. There is a toilet on the right with grab handles. And there is a red emergency pull cord on the right. There is a rubbish bin.

The accessible toilet has baby change facilities.

Venue Access

Main House

You can enter the Main House from the second floor if you are able to use the stairs. There are 14 steps from the Foyer up to the second floor entrance.

If you need step-free access you can take the lift from street level to the first floor and enter the Main House from the first floor entrance.

This is the entrance to the Main House from the second floor.

The seats are cushioned benches. The entrance to the venue is from the top of the steps of the seating rake. The accessible entrance is to the right hand side.

The Main House has raked seating. The wheelchair space is on the front row. We will need to remove seating to accommodate wheelchairs and you can let us know this in advance by emailing us at access@pleasance.co.uk.

This venue is step free via lift to Foyer entrance or 14 steps using stairs from Foyer.

Use of Infra-red hearing loop is available - please pick this up from the Box Office.

StageSpace

Entry to the StageSpace is on the second floor. There are 14 steps from the Foyer up to the second floor entrance. There is no step free access to StageSpace and there is no wheelchair access.

This is the entrance to the StageSpace.

The StageSpace has raked seating and there are a few stairs that provide access to the seats at the front.

Downstairs

The Downstairs venue is located at the back left of the courtyard, below the main Pleasance Foyer. You can wait in the Pleasance bar until the show starts.

This is the ramp access into the Downstairs space.

This is the main entrance to the Downstairs space - there are 7 steps up into the venue.

The wheelchair space for Downstairs is on the front row of the seating, which is on two levels. We will need to remove seating to accommodate wheelchairs and you can let us know this in advance by emailing us at access@pleasance.co.uk.
