Crisis Support: Available 24 Hours/Day, Free and Confidential

A3 Crisis Response: Call 1-844-844-5544 if you or someone you know is experiencing a behavioral health crisis. A3 is Contra Costa County’s mental and behavioral health crisis service to anyone, anywhere, at any time in the county.

                               

Contra Costa Crisis Center: Call 988 to reach a trained crisis counselor if you’re thinking about suicide, worried about someone, or want emotional support. Assistance is free and confidential. Additional resources: Adults: Call 988 (or 800-273-8255) or text ‘HOPE’ to 20121; Under 18: Call 877-441-1089.

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: Call 988 or 1-800-273-talk for support with trained counselors.

Contra Costa County 211 Resource Directory: Call 211 or check the directory. Offers comprehensive, up-to-date and free-of-charge local community resources in multiple languages. Access suicide and crisis interventions, obtain information and referrals to physical and mental health resources; social services, housing, utility, food, and employment assistance.

California Youth Crisis Line: Call (800) 843-5200. Operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week as the statewide emergency response system for youth (ages 12-24) and families in crisis.

The Steve Fund: Text ‘STEVE’ to 741741 to access a culturally trained Crisis Text Line Counselor.

The Trevor Project — Saving Young LGBTQ Lives   A national 24-hour, confidential support hotline for LGBTQ youth. Call 1-866-488-7386; text ‘START’ to 678-678; Access online chat messaging.

Food Support

Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano County: Provides emergency and supplemental food.

Contra Costa County’s Find Food tool: Enter any city and proximity to generate a map with all food distributions and partner food pantries available and open during different times during the week.  

Alameda County Food Bank: For those residing outside of Contra Costa County.

Meals on Wheels: Supports home-bound elders / nutritionally at-risk senior citizens

Loaves and Fishes: Serves meals and distributes food pantry groceries to anyone in need.

CalFresh: Provides support with food, cash aid, and health coverage benefits.

Mental Health Resources and Medi-Cal

National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) Contra Costa County: Offers virtual and in-person groups to help parents improve their child's mental health.  Some programs are offered in multiple languages (English, Spanish, Mandarin). Go to the upper left corner of the website for translation.

NAMI Basics will teach you more about how you can help your child improve their symptoms.

NAMI Family to Family program: Free, 8-session educational program for those living with people with mental illness.

A3 Crisis Response - Contra Costa County Health: Access support through 988, 211, community health providers, etc. or call: 844-844-5544. Clinical staff provide support, triage presenting issues and determine when an in-person response is necessary.

 

Mental Health Services - Contra Costa County Health: Call the Access Line to find out more about getting services through the county, including county mental health services: 888-678-7277.Go to the upper left corner of the website for translation.

Contra Costa County/Medi-Cal: Apply for benefits including medical coverage.

Other Supports

Hospice East Bay: Call 925-887-5678 for a virtual grief group or counseling.

SAMHSA's National Helpline: Call 1-800-985-5990 or text “TalkWithUs” to 66746 for support. The helpline is a free, confidential, 24/7, 365-day-a-year treatment referral and information service (in English and Spanish) for individuals and families facing mental and/or substance use disorders.

STAND! For Families Free of Violence: Call 888-215-5555 for 24/7 support around domestic abuse and family violence.

Contra Costa County Emergency Response Hotline: If you suspect that a child you know is being abused or neglected, you can make a referral by calling the 24-hour, seven-day-a-week Hotline Toll-Free at (877) 881-1116. Your report may be anonymous.
