Forest of Reading

Humewood's Forest of Reading program starts on Monday!  This exciting program is an opportunity for students to read a selection of recent Canadian books and vote for the winner!

Readers choose a program that they would like to be a part of, usually based on their age or grade, and simply begin reading. They can read all ten of the titles, or pick and choose to read only the ones they are interested in. Participants are encouraged to read at least five of the ten titles to be eligible to vote in April. This program aims to encourage a genuine and life-long love of reading among readers of all ages. Students in Grades 3-8 can participate outside of instructional time by checking out Forest of Reading nominated texts during morning recess in the Library. Many K-2 teachers will be reading nominated picture books in their classrooms. Let's get reading, Humewood!

Reminder:

Please support your child(ren) in organizing  all belongings (e.g. lunch, outwear, etc.) and placing these items into their school bag before going to school each day.

Doing this will reduce the number of interruptions to classes during instructional time when items get dropped off throughout the day.

Where and when possible please try to schedule appointments outside of the school day to avoid late drop offs and early pickups that can disrupt student learning.
