Dear Internship Coordinator,
I am a resident of Missoula, currently studying as a freshman in the Honors Program at the University of Michigan. Having lived in Missoula for 16 years, I have grown to truly appreciate downtown through community events, supporting local businesses and admiring the work that goes into maintaining a beautiful urban environment. I am very interested in the part-time communications intern position for this summer. Working with the Missoula Downtown Association would be an incredible first glimpse into communications being applied to real life and understanding the process of crafting an appealing community experience that benefits businesses and the public.
This semester, I have really enjoyed my introduction to communications course where I have learned about the important role the media plays in the world. This course pushed me to further my writing ability through a number of essays and articles, and I also learned how to utilize graphics and visual presentation in writing, skills which would be very useful in this position.
I have customer service experience from my time working at XXX, a fast food restaurant, where I interacted with over 30 customers per shift, worked to serve them efficiently, and aided in creating a pleasant customer experience. I see these skills translating well into the position of a communications intern as I would be utilizing similar interpersonal skills in interacting with the public and writing skills in creating informative media for Missoula residents.
As a highly organized and motivated student, I see myself as a great fit for this position and would love to be a part of the MDA community this summer. I would greatly appreciate a chance to connect and discuss this position either through phone or email. Thank you for your consideration.
Best,
