HCHS Baseball COVID19 Workout Plan
- Per KHSAA rules ALL workouts until February 15th will be considered voluntary for baseball. In NO way are these workouts considered mandatory.
- Workouts will begin after June 15th and be Tuesdays and Thursdays at a time that avoids the majority of the other sports. They will take place at the baseball field.
- Parents will be instructed to keep their athletes at home if they do not feel comfortable allowing their athletes to workout with NO penalty.
- Parents will be informed on all workout times and  COVID19 guidelines.
- Players must have an up to date physical to participate in workouts.
- All workouts will be conducted following the school, the KHSAA, and the governor’s guidelines.
- Players should not attend workouts if they demonstrate any COVID19 symptoms, have a fever or feel ill in any way or have been exposed to a person with COVID19.
- All players and coaches will complete a COVID19 symptom check prior to each workout including a temperature check. These will be tracked daily recorded on the NFHS COVID19 log. Parents will be notified if their athlete demonstrates symptoms and is sent home.
- Players and coaches will be given sanitizer prior and following workouts and encourage players to practice good hygiene such as washing of hands.
- The workouts through July 15th will be conducted outside and canceled during inclement weather.
- Coaches will ensure any equipment and surfaces used during any type of workout will be wiped down before and after each group.
- Coaches will wear a mask during workouts and maintain social distancing even when giving instruction. It will be recommended that players wear a mask when not actively participating in physical activity.
- There will be no sunflower seeds or spitting during workouts.
- Players will be required to maintain social distancing during the workouts which is easy to accomplish on a baseball field.
- Players will be required to bring their own equipment (bats, gloves, helmets, etc.) except for baseballs. IF an athlete has to share a bat only it will be wiped down after each individual use.
- Players will be required to bring their own water/etc. as there will be no team coolers. There will be a few extra water bottles in the event a player forgets his.
- We have several buckets of baseballs so the touching of a single ball will be limited and balls will be disinfected before and after workouts.
- There is a 10 player limit in a group with 1 coach. If we were two have multiple groups each coach would remain with his group throughout the workout. Each group will be spaced out in different locations around the complex/field.
- All player equipment will be kept spaced out down the fence line. No dugouts will be used by players.
- Players will need to arrive ready for workouts and leave immediately following workouts.
- This plan will be reevaluated for Phase II beginning June 29.
