Getting Email from Calvary

We've heard that some of you may not be receiving Calvary email consistently; how frustrating for you and for us. We want to make sure we all stay connected during this already challenging time; email is a big piece of this.

This letter is to help address some of the problems.

Email is tricky: Each email service (Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, Comcast, etc.) handles email differently. The same is true of email reader applications (Outlook, Apple Mail, web-interfaces). Thus the actions needed to make sure you receive the email you want depends on the service and reader.

First, Calvary sends email three ways--

The process of making sure your email service and reader won’t cull out email you want to receive is called “whitelisting”. Whitelisting instructs your email provider and/or software to trust emails coming from Calvary. Whitelisting steps include:

  1. Whiteslist Calvary emails:
  1. Staff email accounts: Add Calvary staff email addresses to your contact list or address book. Staff emails follow the formula of FIRSTNAME@calvarygolden.net. Frequent staff senders to all of Calvary include:

Office

office@calvarygolden.net

Beth Callahan

beth@calvarygolden.net

Bethany Thomas

bethany@calvarygolden.net

Josh Ryken

josh@calvarygolden.net

Rachel Geiger

  1. Emails from MyCalvary: Add MyCalvary’s vendor’s emails to your contact list or address book. The best practice is to whitelist domains. For MyCalvary, these are: churchcommunitybuilder.com, ccbchurch.com, @ccbchurch.com and *ccbchurch.com. Not all email providers can do this. In any case, begin by whitelisting these Church Community Builder email addresses, which are the infrastructure of MyCalvary:

care@churchcommunitybuilder.com

notifications@ccbchurch.com

returns@ccbchurch.com

no-reply@ccbchurch.com

For more whitelisting information, see https://churchcommunitybuilder.force.com/s/article/Getting-Started-Whitelisting or https://mailchimp.com/help/about-safe-sender-lists/. These articles show instructions for many email providers for whitelisting.

  1. Check your spam folders: Email providers and readers may, automatically, send Calvary email to a spam or junk mail folder. Regularly checking those folders is good practice. Whitelisting, as in step 1, will reduce the chance of email ending up in spam or junk folders.
  2. Gmail users: We’ve learned that Calvary email sent through MailChimp frequently ends up in Gmail’s “promotions” folder. To prevent this from occurring in the future, you need to move Calvary email out of the promotions folders into your main inbox; this can be done by simply dragging Calvary email from the promotions folder to your inbox.  This will train Gmail to send Calvary emails to your primary folder/inbox. More instructions can be found at https://support.google.com/mail/answer/3094499?hl=en.
  3. Do a web search about whitelisting with your email provider or reader application: such as “whitelisting email on Yahoo!” or “Whitelist email in Outlook”, following instructions provided there. Mailchimp provides whitelist instruction links for the most common email providers at https://mailchimp.com/help/about-safe-sender-lists/ . This is a good place to start.

This may seem like a lot to do, but we encourage you to work through this so email can continue to be one connecting tool. If these pointers don’t make sense, enlist the help of a techie friend or relative!

We’ve not forgotten you; we love you!
