Library Report

Preston Hot Springs Town-County Library

 1. Services to the Public: Knit Wit 1pm on Fridays for the month of May.  Paper crafts start at 1pm on Saturdays. Materials are provided. Friday May 16, 2025 Susan Wright will be at the library to do a book signing and talk about her book. The book discussion group will discuss Let the Rivers Clap Their Hands by Rube Wrightsman on Thursday May 8, 2025. The Friends will have their annual Honoring Tea with a bake sale and silent auction on Saturday May 10, 2025 from 9am to 4pm. Silent auction ends at 3pm. The honoree will be Linda Landrum and they will be serving coffee and cake.

2. Collections: We are in the process of doing inventory.

3.  Technology: Nothing new to report.

4. General Administrative Business: We set up the new building the week of April 7 and picked up 74 chairs from Polson on April 11. We put 50 chairs into use inside the building and the remaining 24 in the shed for outdoor use. The library board elected to offer the brown stackable chairs to the NYAH Grange which they accepted. We delivered them April 18. We had $680.55 left of the $2500 grant, after the chair project. The parameters of the grant allowed use of the money for the collection, and Books in Search of Kids. We have finished out the grant money on seeds for the seed catalog and books from the Montana Book Award 2024 selection list.
5. We have posted for a library trustee opening. Prospective trustees need to live within city limits and fill out a form of interest, available at the library. Posting closes May 20, 2025. Board will choose from the candidates so they can be presented at the June town council meeting for final approval.

The library board will meet at the library Wednesday May 21, 2025 at 5pm for their monthly meeting.
