8.1 Investigation and Compliance
These rules for “The Field” (“Event”) govern all seasons of the ladder system provided by Rival Esports.
These rules have been created to reinforce a fun and fair environment for all participants, and to invigorate the competitive community for Rocket League to uphold good sportsmanship in all competitive activities.
By playing in this Event, you agree (or, if under 18 years of age or other age defined in a player’s country’s age of minority, player’s parent or legal guardian must agree on player’s behalf) to adhere to these rules at all times. By participating in any match as part of the Event, the player (or the player’s parent or legal guardian if the player is a minor) is confirming that he or she has accepted these Rules.
Rival Esports will have sole responsibility for enforcing these rules for all players and has the right to hand out penalties to players for any violations accordingly.
Rival Esports reserves the right to update, revise, or modify these rules from time to time. All player’s participation in the Event after any modification to these rules will signify acceptance of any modifications.
“Best-of-X”: means a Match that has X number of Games, and the Team that wins a majority of the Games is declared the winner. Once a Team wins the number of Games needed to reach the requisite majority, then that Team will be declared the winner of the Match, and any Games that have not been played at that point will not be played. For example, in a Best-of-Three Match, once a Team wins two Games, that Team will immediately be declared the winner of that Match.
“Europe”: means Andorra, Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia (except individuals located in Crimea), San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine (except individuals located in Crimea), United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
“Game”: means a single competition between two Teams.
“Match”: means Event play between two Teams that may involve multiple Games, as described in 2.2 Event Format.
“North America”: means Bahamas, Canada, Costa Rica, Dominica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, and United States (including Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands).
“Team”: means a group of Players who compete in the Event together as a unit. A description of Team requirements is provided in Section 6.
Upon joining the ladder, each Team will be awarded 1000 ladder points. Each match has both participating Teams automatically wager an amount of points corresponding to their weighted placement in the Season.
Queues for Teams will be available during specific periods. Teams will be notified of matches on the hour, every hour during the following time periods, inclusive:
North America:
Monday-Friday: 06:00 PM - 10:00 PM EST (UTC-5)
Saturday+Sunday: 04:00 PM - 10:00 PM EST (UTC-5)
Europe:
Monday-Friday: 06:00 PM - 10:00 PM CET (UTC+1)
Saturday+Sunday: 04:00 PM - 10:00 PM CET (UTC+1)
Matches may be reported after these time periods, but no further matches will be generated. Scheduling may be subject to change at the beginning of each new Season of the Event.
During the Power Hours, points gained will be doubled. Power Hours will be active during the following times:
North America:
Saturday+Sunday: 07:00 PM - 09:00 PM EST (UTC-5)
Europe:
Saturday+Sunday: 07:00 PM - 09:00 PM CET (UTC+1)
All matches generated during these time periods, inclusive, will be eligible for the Power Hour point modifiers, even if the matches are reported after the Power Hours conclude.
Seasons will last for one month, and will follow the calendar dates for that month. Each Season will start on the 1st of each month, and end on the last day of each month. At the start of the Season, ladder points will be reset to the base 1000.
July 25th -- Trial Period
August 1st -- Season 1 Begins
August 31st -- Season 1 Ends
RLCS and Rival Series teams that register before the end of the Trial Period will be placed in Division I. The remaining Teams will be the top-placing Teams from the Trial Period, to total twenty (20) Teams in Division I for Season 1.
Division II will be populated with the top 40 remaining teams from the Trial Period, excluding Teams that were placed into Division I.
All Teams created that are not otherwise part of Division I or Division II will be in Division III. This includes new Teams containing players from disbanded Teams from the above Divisions.
Promotion and relegation will be handled automatically throughout the season. The numbers of Teams promoting and relegating are subject to change as Teams become inactive or disbanded and are at the sole discretion of Rival Esports staff.
Promotion for these divisions will occur at the beginning of each season. The bottom 2 teams will be relegated to Division II. The top 2 Teams in Division II will be promoted to Division I.
Promotion for these divisions will occur at the beginning of each season. The 8 highest placing Teams in Division III at the end of Season 1 will be promoted to Division II for Season 2. Similarly, the bottom 8 Teams in Division II will be relegated to Division III.
If a Team is confirmed to have disbanded in the middle of a season, they will not immediately be replaced. Instead, they will be considered disbanded and will be unable to queue for any matches. Disbanded Teams will be removed from the system before calculating relegations. Teams that are not eligible for prizing at the end of a Season as per 4.1 Eligibility will be treated as disbanded for the purposes of promotion and relegation. If there are any disbanded Teams, they will be treated as relegated from their division when considering standings, and as such active Teams will only be relegated if the number of disbanded Teams is less than the number of Teams to be relegated from that division. If there are more disbanded Teams than the number of teams to be relegated, additional Teams from lower divisions will be promoted to maintain a steady amount of players at higher divisions.
Each match follows a ‘Best of 5’ format to be played on any standard map. Players will register their Teams, queue for matches, and report and validate matches through a Discord bot hosted on the Rival Esports Discord server.
Default Arena: DFH Stadium
Team Size: 3v3
Bot Difficulty: No Bots
Mutators: None
Match Time: 5 Minutes
Joinable By: Name/Password
Platform: Steam
All queueing will occur in division-specific Discord channels on the Rival Esports Discord server. In order to enter a queue, all players on a Team must have an active platform connection, and the Team must have at least 3 active members. To enter the queue, the Team captain should enter the “!queue” (or “!q”) command.
Match region will be determined by Event region of the Teams playing in the match. For North America, the default server region is US-East. For Europe, the default server region is Europe. If both Teams agree to another server region, the match creator may change to the agreed upon server region.
Substitution may only occur between games in a series. Substitutions mid-game will result in a forfeiture of match. Substitutions may only include players that are active members of the Team in Event system.
Coaches are allowed to assist their Teams throughout matches, but are not permitted to join the in-game lobby of any match in the Event. All spectator restrictions in 3.3.7 Spectating also apply to coaches.
Remakes are allowed unilaterally if less than a minute has passed and a goal has not been scored. If a lobby remake occurs, all scores will be reset to 0 and the match will be played out with the full 5:00 timer. If for any reason a lobby needs to be remade after the 1 minute mark or after a goal is scored, both Teams must agree to the remake in text chat before leaving the server.
Spectating Event matches in-game are forbidden, except for approved Rival Esports partners and broadcasters. Unauthorized spectating of matches can result in match forfeiture and/or removal from the division.
Teams will only be allowed to use players who are on their roster per registration. Rosters must contain at least 3 players, and may contain up to 4 players. No player may be part of more than one Team at a time.
Change of roster is permitted provided three (3) of the players on the Team Roster Lock remain on the Team. One (1) player may be replaced per Season per Team -- further changes are permitted provided that three (3) Roster Locked players remain on the team at all times. The Roster Lock is reset every Season, and the current roster at the time of the new Season start automatically becomes the new Roster Lock for the team. Players may register a new Team at any time during the Event, provided they leave their current Team, forfeiting any earned points and/or match completion requirements.
All players of a match must be present to participate in a match. Teams that do not have players ready 10 minutes after start time (defined upon notification of the match information by the Event bot) are subject to match forfeiture.
Teams are allowed to forfeit a match after contacting a member of the Rival Esports moderation Team. Routine forfeiture by any player or Team may result in disqualification from the Event and removal from future Events.
Players will provide communication to both Rival Esports and their opponents for match readiness, disputes, and general setup via the Rival Esports official Discord server located at https://discord.gg/rival
Upon completing a total of 8 matches, Teams will enter contention for a part of the prize pool. At the end of the season, every Team that has met the required number of games played will be ranked on their ladder point totals, and prizes will be awarded based on that rank.
