Clark-Shawnee Local Schools is excited to welcome back our students, teachers, and support staff for the 2025-2026 school year. The Clark-Shawnee Local School District remains committed to providing a high-quality education to our students in a safe and welcoming environment. This Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document will be updated with answers to questions we are being asked about the upcoming school year.
When will students be attending school during the 2025-2026 school year?
The 2025-2026 District Calendar can be accessed by clicking this link. There will continue to be in-service days for teachers to complete important professional development and receive training on district and state initiatives. Students will not report on in-service days. Please note the two additional non-school days for students on October 20, 2025 and April 6, 2026.
When are Open Houses for the 2025-2026 school year?
The opportunity for students to meet their teachers and visit their classrooms for the upcoming school year is always an important event. In an effort to accommodate all of our families, our open house and meet-the-teacher opportunities will be scheduled over two evenings.
Preschool--Monday, August 25th
Kindergarten--Monday, August 25th from 5:00-6:30 PM
Grades 1-3--Tuesday, August 19th from 5:00-6:30 PM
Grades 4-6--Tuesday, August 19th from 5:30-7:00 PM
Grade 7– Monday, August 18th from 5:00-6:30 PM
Grade 8--Monday, August 18th from 5:30-7:00 PM
Grades 9-12– Monday, August 18th from 6:00-7:30 PM
When will my elementary school child find out who their teacher is?
Elementary school students whose FinalForms are completed will receive an email on Friday, August 15th for grades 1-6 and on August 25th for Kindergarten with the name of their student’s homeroom teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.
When will my Middle School/High School student receive their schedule?
Middle and High School schedules will be available for pick up during the open houses on the evening of Monday, August 18th.
What is my child’s first day of school?
Preschool: Students accepted to attend at Shawnee ES will begin school on Tuesday, August, 26th. Students accepted to attend at the Enon Primary Campus will begin school on Tuesday, September 2nd. Preschool screening will take place by appointment August 18-22, 2025. Parents will be contacted to schedule these appointments.
Kindergarten: Kindergarten students will begin school using a staggered schedule. Kindergarten screening will take place by appointment August 18-22, 2025. Parents will be contacted to schedule these appointments. Homeroom assignments will be provided following Kindergarten screening.
Grades 1-12: The first day of school for students in grades 1-12 is Thursday, August 21, 2025
What school supplies will my child need for the upcoming school year?
Back to school sales have already started at many stores and the State of Ohio’s tax free holiday takes place August 1-14, 2025. We want to be sure families can take advantage of these savings opportunities so we have posted supply lists on our website under the Back To School menu in the top right corner. What are the school times for the upcoming school year?
Shawnee High School and Middle School: *7:25 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Kindergarten through 6th Grade: *8:50 a.m. to 3:40 p.m.
AM Preschool: 8:50 a.m. to 11:35 a.m.
PM Preschool: 12:55 p.m. to 3:40 p.m.
* = Students will be permitted to enter the building ten minutes prior to the tardy bell.
What are the telephone numbers for the school district?
As part of the facilities project, the district phone system was updated which required a change in telephone numbers. Please see the updated list below.
When will I find out about approximate bus pick-up and drop-off times for my child?
***If there has been any change to your child’s transportation plan for the 2025-2026 school year, please contact Mr. Jacob Mattern at 937-717-2404 or Jacob.Mattern@cslocal.org. For example, if your child did not ride the bus in the morning last year but needs to to ride the bus in the morning this year, you must call to notify the Transportation Department of this change. Updating information in FinalForms DOES NOT automatically change the transportation routing information.
My child attends GISA. How does transportation work since they start before Clark-Shawnee?
The district will provide transportation for GISA students beginning on August 21st (the first day of school for Clark-Shawnee). Please contact the Transportation Department at 937-717-2404 with any questions.
How will breakfast and lunches be handled at Clark-Shawnee this school year?
The following meal prices have been established for the 2025-2026 school year.
Elementary--PreK-Grade 6
Lunch--Full Price: $3.50
Lunch--Reduced: FREE through June 30, 2027 per the state budget.
Middle School/High School--Grades 7-12
Lunch--Full Price: $3.75
Lunch--Reduced: FREE through June 30, 2027 per the state budget.
Breakfasts will be available to all students at NO COST for the 2025-2026 school year. This means that all Clark-Shawnee students will have access to a free breakfast on days when school is in session, unless otherwise noted.
Lunch Charge Policy: Students will not be allowed to charge more than $12.00 to their student food service account. Once a student exceeds that threshold, they will not be able to purchase a school lunch.
What are the Pay to Participate Fees for the 2025-2026 school year?
The Pay to Participate Fees are as follows:
Middle School: $100.00 per sport with a two-sport cap per athlete.
High School: $200.00 per sport with a two-sport cap per athlete.
Pay to Participate fees for fall sports are due September 2, 2025. Fall athletes with unpaid pay-to-participate fees WILL NOT be permitted to participate in their sport after September 2nd until the fees are paid. Fall sports include Football, Football Cheerleading, Soccer, Cross Country, Volleyball, and Golf.
Household Cap: A single household will not pay more than $400.00 in pay to participate fees for students living in the same household during the 2025-2026 school year.
Student Pass: Student-athletes will receive a Student Athletic pass that will give the named student admission to all home sporting events at Shawnee during the 2025-2026 school year. This pass WILL NOT work for CBC Tournament events or OHSAA Postseason Contests.
Will latchkey be offered during the 2025-2026 school year?
The morning and afternoon latchkey programs will be returning for the 2025-2026 school year! Morning latchkey will be available beginning at 6:30 AM until school starts and afternoon latchkey will be available after school until 6:00 PM on days when school is in session.
We have also simplified our pricing structure and created discounted prepayment options for families. Daily rates will be used in August and discounted prepayment rates will be available starting in September.
