Panel planning updates

• Internship Panel

Room was good for mixer but not panel. Not many CPCB showed up even though it was 1:5 on signup.

Make a note to not do this with undergrads next year. Detracted a lot from the PhD experience according to Alex and Steph who attended. Mixer format was great, could be done with only Phds. More industry seminar speakers are helpful for networking.

Pittsburgh biomedical breakfast could be another thing to route people to.

GSA Budget and Reimbursement processes [Alex]

Reimbursements for meeting food (Annie & Thomas have been reimbursed, Annie 2 pending)

Alex is gone at the next meeting, please arrange events (climbing) ahead of time.

Alisa asked about vincent card and nobody else in BGSA had heard of it.

Alisa will ask at BGSA meeting about getting a card for Pitt. Do any students orgs at Pitt have the same issue and a solution/card.

Student Seminar [Alistair]

Advisor panel had low turnout, maybe hold after thanksgiving break if possible

Outreach/volunteer activities for the year [Steph]

No one signed up for the event, lots of volunteer organizations get interest around holiday season so also hard to coordinate with their schedules

Better connected to organizations in pittsburgh, can easily talk to people early for an event next year

CPCB GSA website [Yajushi]

Yajushi has access, but not a lot of website experience w/ html on git. Getting issues with prerequisite downloads

Talked about the new building, current issues with bike lanes being too small around CMU (specifically morewood going up to fifth) expanding bike lane. Trying to widen biking lane over bridge

All first years and committee resp and board executives have cards. EVeryone from CPCB should have access to grad lounge and just needs to request a card. CMU side is a lil tricky but they’re figuring it out.

Also might not be worth getting access to (eek) not really a great place to work

There’s an anon survey how we can improve community from the OLE, being responsible community members, etc.

Health survey information in general slack, basically everyone gets their money back, dependents are included

No one knows what a vincent card is, going to have to do reimbursements

First years got cookies after first ML exam
