School Student Success Plan

Dartmouth South Academy 2018-2019

Literacy Goal:  Students will demonstrate an improvement in reading comprehension focusing on a deeper understanding within and beyond the text.  

Strategies:
(assessment for learning, instruction and learning team focus)

ELA and FLA teachers will implement A Time to Teach, A Time to Practice, A Time to Share (workshop approach) on a daily basis with an emphasis on the guided portion of the workshop and how to use this time to prove students with the strategy instruction that has been identified through assessment tools.  

All teachers will use formative assessment strategies (conversations, observations, and product) with an emphasis on providing students with descriptive feedback to enhance deeper understanding and text comprehension.  

Within their PLCs teachers will focus on running record analysis and using the information gathered through formative and summative assessments to determine next steps to move students forward.    

Mathematics Goal:  Students will demonstrate improvement in mathematical thinking, communication and problem solving in mathematics.

Strategies:
(assessment for learning, instruction and learning team focus)

Teachers will provide increased opportunities for students to share their math reasoning and communication through conferencing, journaling, questioning and rich student discussion.

Teachers will use formative assessment strategies (conversations, observations, and product) with an emphasis on providing students with descriptive feedback on problem solving and communication and use this information to plan next steps for instruction.

 In their PLC, teachers will develop common problem solving and communication assessment practices that allow for a variety of ways of knowing and doing and focus on real world problem solving.
