256 scans “maple wood day9” 19-20 bits evidence of suspicious large signal at end of echo train, acquisition hung at 255/256 (characteristic LapNMR misbehaviour)
Hardware reset
Rerun at 8.16.... nearer 21 bits: no misbehaviour, so saved this one
Checked tuning - looks good

Lab temp 22 C.
Several CPMG measurements on rehydrated maple wood plus a new sample from freezer. Instrument well behaved but had to do hardware reset approx. once every 3 or 4 measurements.
Used vacuum pump to rehydrate maple wood: 7 minutes on, 7 minutes off cycle.

with 20-MHz Proteus.
Wrote new pulse sequences with equal-duration 90 and 180 degree pulses for CPMG (and a quadrature echo "QE... " that uses Attenuator2 (AHOP turned on as it is for the 90 in the equal-duration CPMG)
Exact calibration of the 90 is tricky, but somewhere between 6 & 6.6 us is fine (Mike Ross used 6.6 us).
[The problem for calibration is that long T2 samples have some long-lived signal that interferes with the first few echoes of the train (sometimes referred to as acoustic ringing), while short T2 samples have QE decays that disappear too fast (if you make tau long enough to clean up the first few echoes) to properly assess the relative amplitude of the first few echoes - which is the typical calibration approach. The amount of early perturbation seems to change if I reposition the sample, but that might be caused by the copper sheet covering the opening, which obviously gets moved if you move the sample.]
I also moved the 30 MHz filter upstream of the pre-amplifier. I didn't see any great difference in my acquisition, but it makes more sense to me (unless the preamplifier is injecting noise).

20MHz proteus tuning and matching really well. constructive noise issue seemed a little more frequent than usual, often appearing in two successive acquisitions.
Set of CPMG measurements with CuSO4 to characterize the gradient, wood drying series with ends sealed with marine epoxy, and a set of varying tau measurements on wood sticks.

Tuning and matching of probe really stable.
It seemed that after 90 minutes of measurements the "end noise artifact" began creeping up with increasing frequency. Powercycled preamp and consol to continue, but it kept returning. After resting the instrument for an hour at lunch, the artifact/issue disappeared until the 90 minute measurement time mark when it reared its ugly head once more.

20MHz Proteus. Tuning and matching are stable. Noticed I could hear the rf pulses on occasion, but they were very quiet and i could not tell if the sound was coming from the probe or the amplifier.
The "constructive noise artifact" (CNF for short) was kept at a minimum today. Based on last week's session, I'm treating it as a duty cycle issue; I've reduced number of pulses and gave ~5 minutes between acquisitions.
I recommend that anyone using this LapNMR console follow suit until the CNF is better diagnosed and understood.

"Error = 0x1f" (I think a generic windows driver error) popped up mid-scan. Also received "Hardware Error on Signal Averager!!" message.
Maggie and Jiangfeng also received same errors this morning.
Rebooted PC and turned off the tecmag console.
When I tried relaunching TNMR, got the messages "unknown USB device" and "Signal Averager diver error". TNMR would only launch in processing mode.

Ran 256 scans of CPMG with no problem. (No magnet or probe in place, so don't know if there were any NMR signal, but the acquisition computer seemed to work.)
Put computer to sleep, left everything else on. Let's see what happens.

Still being haunted by the constructive noise artifact, even with fairly gentle settings. Measurements were clean for about 2 hours of scans before amplifier started to complain.
