All students in Seguin ISD are assured admission to the schools in the attendance area in which they reside. Students may apply online for a transfer from one school to another within Seguin ISD. This is referred to as an intradistrict transfer (in-district).
A non-resident student living outside the Seguin ISD boundaries who desires to attend school in the district may apply online. This type of transfer is referred to as an interdistrict transfer (out of district).
All transfer applications will be approved and or denied due to existing criteria established by the Seguin Independent School District.
Out-of-District Transfer FAQs: (K-12 Only - SISD does not allow out-of district transfers for pre-k)
May my student from outside of Seguin ISD attend school at any of the SISD schools?
Yes. Seguin ISD offers an excellent educational experience for students from the local community and also extends this opportunity to students throughout Seguin who want to work hard and be a productive part of the SISD Matador family.
Are all out-of-district students accepted if they apply?
No. Seguin ISD accepts out-of-district students on a case-by-case and a year-by-year basis. The District accepts a limited number of students per year, and students must reapply every year and remain in good standing to maintain enrollment in the District. The District reserves the right to deny any out-of-district student because of program availability, grade level spaces (class size), disciplinary history, academic performance, and attendance (including tardies).
Does Seguin ISD provide bus transportation for out-of-district students?
No. At this time, SISD does not provide bus transportation to out-of-district students. The District will provide bus transportation for out-of-district students participating in UIL or school-sponsored activities.
Why does Seguin ISD accept out-of-district students?
Seguin ISD welcomes out-of-district students who are hard-working and have proven to be in good standing at their previous school because we offer an excellent school district and an enriching learning environment.
All out-of-district transfers must have acceptable attendance and no discipline issues.
The student and their parent/guardian must follow all rules and regulations of the District , including those for student conduct and attendance. Violation of the District's rules and regulations may result in revocation of the transfer agreement.
UlL Eligibility: All University Interscholastic League (UIL ) rules shall be followed when considering transfer requests. The receiving campus principal and athletics director or fine arts director, as appropriate, shall render decisions with respect to the eligibility of a transfer student for participation in UIL activities.

Why isn't my child eligible for prekindergarten?
The Texas Legislature determines eligibility requirements for free, public prekindergarten in Texas. When the Texas legislature established the prekindergarten program the intent was, and still is, to provide early learning experiences to students who are most at risk for school failure. Therefore, the eligibility is limited. The legislature believed that a high-quality prekindergarten program could mitigate the impact of the at-risk characteristics, thereby assisting these students to become school-ready when they enter kindergarten.
Does my child have to go to prekindergarten if he or she is eligible?
No. Prekindergarten is not mandatory. However, upon enrollment in prekindergarten, a child must attend school. All students are subject to compulsory school attendance rules while they are enrolled in school. If a child has not reached 6 years of age as of September 1 of the current school year, the child may be withdrawn from school without violating compulsory attendance rules. TEC §25.085(c), SAAH, Section 3.5
Are districts required to serve three-year-olds who are eligible?
No. A district may offer prekindergarten classes if the district identifies 15 or more eligible children who are at least three years of age. A child who is three years old is eligible for prekindergarten only if the district operates a three-year-old prekindergarten program. TEC §29.153(a), SAAH, Section 7.2
May districts keep "waiting lists" of eligible children who are not being served?
No, not for eligible four-year-olds. By law, a school district must offer prekindergarten classes if it identifies 15 or more children who are eligible and are four years of age by September 1 of the current school year. If a district offers a program for eligible three-year-old students, a waiting list or lottery for three-year-olds only may be established under district policy. TEC §29.153(a)
Is it necessary to verify/qualify a four-year-old student for PK who was eligible and enrolled in PK as a three-year-old student?
LEAs are still required to do their normal qualification process for previously enrolled three-year-old students, even though they would automatically qualify for PK based on their qualification and enrollment as three-year-old PK students. The PEIMS qualification code of automatic eligibility is a code of last resort and is only to be used if a student does not qualify for PK in any other way.
