JESUS GONZALO:

Aeronautical engineer by Polytechnic University of Madrid/Spain. PhD in Physics by University of Valladolid/Spain.  He has 16-year experience in the space industry, leading the R&D department of INSA, a Spanish government-owned company to develop aerospace projects and services. Patent author and lead engineer of FUEGOSAT constellation, an ESA-EC initiative to provide efficient fire-fighting services in temperate forests worldwide in the 90’s.

He moved to the University of León in 2005 to establish the aerospace research group, with outstanding projects such as the airplane-helicopter convertible HADA or the autonomous airship SANCHO. He teaches aerodynamics, CFD, flight mechanics and satellites.

His research is today focused on stratospheric lighter-than-air platforms, being the Chief engineer of the ECOSAT programme, which is currently flying a model of 30-m length as a precursor of the operational one.
