CLEVELAND, Tenn. -- The Bradley Central Bearettes clinched their eighth straight regular-season district title with a 62-27 victory over cross-county rival Walker Valley on Tuesday evening inside Jim Smiddy Arena.

Anna Walker scored off an Anna Roberts pass to open up the game and Walker Valley’s (8-16, 3-9 District 5 AAA) Laney Harris made a 3-pointer on the next possession to take a 3-2 lead. Bradley responded with a Hannah Lombard put back to take the lead for good with 6:08 left in the first. The Bearettes were able to take a 17-10 lead into the first break.

The Bearettes then opened the second period on a nine-to-nothing run to break open the game and take a 26-10 lead on a Jamia Williams three off a Roberts assist. The two teams were able to swap baskets, but Bradley was able to win the quarter 12-5 to take a 29-15 lead into the locker room.

Bradley Central (23-3, 11-0 District 5 AAA) came out of the break firing on all cylinders opening the third with a 12-0 run and ending it on a six-to-nothing run. Kaleigh Hughes got the scoring started with a 3-pointer at the 7:31 mark and ended the run with a free-throw just under four minutes later to finish the largest run of the night. The Lady Mustang’s then scored on a pair of free-throws and Walker scored ten seconds later to spark the 6-0 run to end the quarter.

The two squads were able to empty their benches, and the reserves got plenty of time in the fourth quarter while Bradley was able to extend it’s lead to the largest of the night as Syler Falcon made her second shot from the charity stripe to take the final score to 62-27 with just under 30 seconds remaining.

Walker paced the Bearette offense with 17 points and led the team with six rebounds, and four blocks. Sophomore guard Jamaryn Blair was the next leading scorer with 11 to go along with seven steals, three assists, and four rebounds. Roberts led the team with four assists as the Bearettes recorded 13. Bradley saw 11 of their dressed players score.

The stout Bradley defense had 18 steals and forced 27 total turnovers. The hosts were also able to win the rebounding war 32-26. Bradley had 17 offensive rebounds, two more than on the other end of the floor.

The Bearettes outscored the Lady Mustangs 29-5 off turnovers, 30-4 in the paint, 15-8 in second chance scoring, 15-2 off fast breaks, and 17-4 in bench scoring.

Harris led Walker Valley with 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting while Cayce Davis and Mauren Baker recorded five points each. Madison Rue recorded six rebounds to lead the Lady Mustangs.

Bradley shot 44 percent from the floor on 22-of-50 shooting while shooting a cold 17.4 percent (4-for-23) from behind the 3-point line. The Bearettes were able to get to the free-throw line 20 times, making 14 of them (70 percent).

Walker Valley went 8-of-31 from the floor (25.8 percent) and 4-of-12 (33.3 percent) from distance. The Lady Mustangs went 7-for-13 (53.8 percent) from the charity stripe.

Bradley Central will be back in action on Friday as they take on McMinn Central for senior night. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. The Bearettes then welcome Cleveland to Jim Smiddy Arena on Monday to wrap up the regular season at 6 p.m.
