Author Jarrett J. Krosoczka is Coming... Order Your Books Now!

The Lunch Lady guy is coming to SES! (Wait, that sounded weird.) The PTA is so excited to welcome children’s author/illustrator/graphic novelist Jarrett J. Krosoczka to SES on Monday, November 13th. Mr. Krosoczka will visit the students in three sessions: 9:15-10:00 for grades 4 & 5, 10:10-10:55 for grades 2 & 3 and 12:40-1:25 for grades K & 1. Autographed copies of selected titles - including books from the ever popular Lunch Lady and the Jedi Academy series - are available for order now. Math Night = Fun!

Kid + Parent + Math = FUN! Students and parents from grades 3-5 are invited to join us for Math Night on Thursday, November 16th from 6:30-7:30pm in the SES cafeteria. Please CLICK HERE to sign up. We still need one more parent volunteer to help out that night, so if you’re interested, please contact Katherine O'Brien (kjobrien72@mac.com).

Picture Retake Day

Did your kid have a bad hair day on Picture Day? Or maybe he/she was super grumpy? Well, there’s a second chance. Picture RETAKE Day is Wednesday, November 8th. If your child missed School Picture Day in September, he/she is already on the retake list and will be photographed. If your child was photographed in September but you’d like to retake the photos, then please sign your child up HERE and send back the entire photo package - except the class group picture - to your child’s teacher. That package will be returned to Coffee Pond and your child will sit for a new portrait on November 8th. Questions? Please contact Kerri Sorensen (kerrisorensen@gmail.com).

Dance Brazil!

PTA Cultural Arts is excited to bring Ginga Brasileira to SES on Thursday, November 16th. These lively and energetic musicians and dancers will awe and delight with their colorful costumes, rhythmic music and high-energy footwork. The troupe will perform Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian fusion of martial arts and dance; Maculele, a traditional indigenous folkloric dance using sticks; and Samba, the national dance of Brazil. (See attached flyer) Showtimes are 8:30-9:30 for grade 3-5 and 9:45-10:45 for K-2. Families and parents are welcome to attend!

Save the Date for the SES Spring Benefit

Now that the Boo Bash is over, the planning has begun for our big spring party on Friday, March 16th and we’re on the hunt for great auction items! Do you have a vacation house or access to an awesome experience that could be auctioned? Any cool items you can contribute? Or maybe your second cousin is a funny auctioneer? Please let us know by contacting the committee at sesbenefit@gmail.com.

School Calendar PSA

Monday’s day off - should we call it a Rain Day? Uprooted Tree Day? Power Outage Day? - adds a day to the end of the year as the district did not build any snow (or other weather-related) days off worked into this year’s calendar. We have no cushion, so let’s hope for a balmy winter.

Lost Earring

One of our dedicated PTA volunteers lost a valuable solitaire diamond earring at school on Friday. If found, please contact Carmela Cerulo in the front office at 203-221-2926. Thank you.
