St. Mary's exists to nurture the whole child through a Catholic Christian setting that aids in the development of the whole child: spiritually, academically, socially, and physically. As part of a Catholic community living out the Gospel message, the school and family collaborate to nurture self-worth, respect, and an appreciation of the pursuit of knowledge.
Based on the circumstances of the public health emergency, the US Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Services notified the Ohio Department of Education that nationwide waivers have been approved and/or extended through December 31, 2020. Leipsic Local School District has applied to exercise the waiver through the end of the calendar year as proposed by the Ohio Department of Education. What does this mean to you? The Leipsic Local School District will be providing all students in grades K-12 who attend our district building schools with FREE breakfast and FREE lunch. This will include all St. Mary’s Students Pre-Kindergarten through Eighth Grade.
Questions & Answers
What do you as a parent/guardian need to do? Nothing. Effective September 9, 2020 any & all students on campus who get a breakfast and/or lunch will receive their meal at no cost.
Can my student get extra food? Yes. Students in grades 5-12 have the option of purchasing additional entrees and/or ala carte items. Those options will still be available to the students. There will be a charge for those additional items. Students will need to enter their lunch code to make those additional purchases against their lunch account.
What if my student packs and only needs milk? Unfortunately, this is only for meal purchases. If your student(s) packs and needs milk, there will still be a charge of $0.40 per milk.
What time is breakfast served? Breakfast will be available each day from 8:00 am - 8:15 am. The breakfast meal will be delivered to St. Mary’s. Students will eat breakfast in their classrooms.
What happens after December 31, 2020? Your student will return to a normal lunch status.
Should I complete a free/reduced lunch application for the 2020-2021 school year? Yes. Once this waiver period expires on 12/31/2020, your student lunch status will change to full pay unless you have filled out the necessary free/reduced lunch application.
