Instructions for using MixCast

Initial Setup

  1. Download and Install the 2.5.1 beta from MixCast Beta Program - MixCast
  2. More documentation can be found at https://mixcast.me/docs/develop/unity
  3. Run MixCast (Start Menu -> MixCast or click Launch at the end of the Installation) and Activate license with the license key provided. First launch of MixCast may take longer than normal due to Windows scanning.
  4. MixCast now asks you to make a Virtual Camera to manage rendering settings

    Click
    Open Preferences
  5. In the Preferences window, select the Virtual Cameras section and Click Add Camera
  6. A new window will appear asking which platform you’d like the Camera to be associated with. Select Tilt Five!
  7. The new Camera’s settings are now visible. Under Mixing, change the Device Name to the video input that you want to composite with the virtual content.

Camera Calibration

  1. Open the Preferences window, select the Physical Devices section, and select the video input to edit.
  2. Find the Tilt Five Calibration button next to either the Lens Info or the Tracking Pose fields.

This will launch the Calibration window and initiate the calibration process.
  3. a) If the board was detected, the Calibration window will display the estimated parameters and overlay a virtual board design over the real board to aid in the review of the alignment. Click Apply to confirm the results, Close the window to cancel, or Click Retry from the Top Left to perform the calibration again (ex: if you adjust the board position)

    b) If the board can’t be detected, the user is informed and a Retry button is presented.

Enabling Scene Segmentation for Foreground Layering (Optional)

  1. Open the Preferences window, select the Physical Devices section, and select the video input to edit.
  2. Scroll down to the WildKey group and enable Auto-Segment
  1. If you click the Eye button next to the Color group header, it will display what’s determined to be the ‘subject’/’foreground’ in a preview window.
  2. Changing the AI Model might improve results - different models are trained for different scenarios.

Enabling MixCast in a Tilt Five (Unity) Experience

  1. Import the provided MixCast_SDK_T5-Beta-2.5.1.unitypackage into your Tilt Five Unity project.
  2. That’s it!

Running with a Tilt Five Experience

  1. Launch MixCast
  2. Launch experience
  3. MixCast will launch an Output Display Window (usually within 5 sec of the experience finishing loading) with the composited output and camera controls and overlay it over the game window.

  1. If you need access to the desktop view of the game, press Ctrl+Tab to ‘undock’ the MixCast output window from the experience window. It can then be moved and resized as required.
