When you are helping your children with their lunches, please ensure that all food items they are bringing to school are nut-free, especially any leftover Halloween candy. Thanks for your support and cooperation. Photo Retakes Due to the Snow Day last week, the photo retakes will be taken on Thursday, November 21st. If any families have decided not to order the original photos and would like to have new photos taken for their child, if possible, please have the student return the information form that was sent home last week, before they have new photos taken that day. Any student who missed the original photo day will also be able to have their photo taken as well. Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week and Lockdown Practice This week is Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week. As part of our activities for the week, students will make kindness hearts, describing how we should treat one another, that will be displayed throughout the school. We will also have an assembly, where student leaders will discuss strategies with the students for how to stop and prevent bullying. Finally, we will be having our School Resource Officer visiting the school to discuss this issue with students and to have our first lockdown practice of the year, at 1:00pm on Wednesday, November 20th. United Way Fundraising Thanks to everyone in our school community for their generous support of the United Way fundraising events. The final calculations have been made and the Pumpkin Raffle raised $303.20, while the Spirit Week activities raised another $609.25. Thanks again. It was a wonderful week that supported a great cause. Book Fair We will be having a Scholastic Book Fair on November 25-28. Each class will have 30 minutes in Learning Commons to buy items at the Book Fair on one of the days next week. The teachers will let the students know when the class will be visiting the Book Fair. There will be a variety of books and other items for sale, with a price range similar to the items in the monthly Scholastic flyers. Interview Night Thanks to everyone who was able to attend the parent-teacher interviews last Thursday night. It was great to see so many smiling faces and to get the chance to discuss the wonderful progress our students are making. If you were unable to make it to the interviews, the teachers will be calling parents to discuss the progress of their children, on the phone. |
