Tardy Information Tardy and Unexcused Absence Information (ADD as Replacement)

It is important that classes be free from interruption and that students be available for organized class activities as soon as the bell rings. “Being on time”, as defined by ACCJSH is to be in your seat and prepared for class when the bell rings.  Any student who is late without a pass to any class or does not have materials needed for class is considered tardy.

When a student is tardy to school, they must report to the office before going to class.  The office personnel will record the tardy and issue a pass to class. Students who are more than fifteen minutes late to any class will be considered unexcused absent for the entire period.

When a student has reached three unexcused tardies, or has received an unexcused absence from a class period, the student will serve detention time.  Students will receive a detention for each class period of unexcused time they have. Example- Unexcused for 1st-3rd periods will result in 3 tardy detentions assigned. (ADD all red text)

Each Subsequent tardy up to ten will also result in a tardy detention. At ten:

  1. Tardies accumulating to 10  in a semester will be assigned to In School Suspension
  2. Tardies accumulating beyond 10 in a semester will be assigned to Saturday School or additional ISS.

Add the following on pg. 34

Pocket Knives and Hand tools

All students will be required to leave pocket knives and hand tools, like pliers and multitools,  in their locker, in the office, or their vehicle. In the instances in which they may need them for a class they can get permission from the administration to use them. Failure to comply with this policy will be handled as defiance in our behavior matrix and dealt with accordingly.
