Keep in mind that your child is the intended audience of the content posted in Classroom. As such, the summaries you receive were written for them to have the information necessary to perform the required tasks.

Will I see grades in the Summary?

No. Guardian summary emails do not include grades or scores.

What does a Summary look like?

When do the Guardian Summaries arrive?

Guardian Summaries are automated emails that typically arrive between 4:30-5:00 PM CST. Daily emails arrive Monday through Friday. Weekly emails typically arrive on Fridays.

Do I need a Gmail address or a Google Account?

No. When you accept the invitation, you get weekly summaries at that email address.. However, to view or update email summary settings, you need a Google Account. With a Google Account, you can change the frequency of your emails, update your time zone, see the students connected to your account, and unsubscribe from email summaries.

How do I get a Guardian Summary?

SPA will email you an invitation to join. The invitation will go to the parent/guardian email address you use to receive Veracross communications.
You have 120 days to accept the invitation before it expires.
From your email program, open your email invitation.
Click Accept.
(If you’re not the guardian for the student listed, click I’m Not The Guardian.)
Click Accept to confirm.
When you accept an invitation, you and your student get an email confirmation.
You can unsubscribe from summaries or remove yourself as a guardian at any time.

Note: You can get email summaries sent to any email address. However, to view or update email summary settings, you need a Google Account. How often do I get a summary?

Guardians choose to get emails daily or weekly. (The default is weekly, and this is the only option if you’re using a non-Google account.) Note: The daily option is only available if you register with a Google/Gmail account.

Why didn’t I get a summary for every class?

Guardians won’t get an email summary for a class if:

There's no activity to report for the given time period.
All their student’s teachers turned off notifications for their classes.
The guardian has accepted the invitation but chose not to get any summaries.
The guardian isn’t connected to any student in Classroom.
The student has left the Classroom.

How do I manage my Guardian Summaries or change the frequency of emails?

In your email program, at the bottom of any email summary, click Settings.
If you haven't already, sign in to your Google Account.
Under Frequency, click the Down arrow ⏷ and choose when to get summaries:

Weekly
Daily (Monday–Friday)
No summaries

Under Timezone, click the Down arrow ⏷ > select your time zone.

Note: If you’ve registered with a non-Google/Gmail account, you will be able to unsubscribe, but you won’t be able to modify the frequency of the summaries.

How do I change my email address?

To get guardian emails at a different email address:

Contact the division technology coordinator (Tami Brass for Middle School or Angie Kritta for Upper School) and ask them to delete your current address and re-invite you at the new address.
In your web browser, open an Incognito or guest window.
Sign in to the email account of your new address.
Confirm that you’re signed out of all other email accounts.
In your new email account, open the invitation and click Accept.

How do I unsubscribe from Guardian Summaries?

You can unsubscribe from email summaries at any time. At the bottom of any email summary, click Unsubscribe.

What if I have questions about what I see in a Guardian Summary for my student?

Speak with your child first. Remember that they are the intended audience for the content in Google Classroom. If your child is confused, please have them contact the teacher of the class in question.
