We are excited to work with you to support your child this year!
Below we would like to share what your students will be working on during the next few months!
Math:
Recognize and use the relationships between addition and subtraction to solve single-step practical problems, with whole numbers to20 |
Determine past and future days of the week. |
Identify specific days and dates on a given calendar. |
Identify, describe, create, extend and transfer patterns found in objects, pictures, and numbers |
Reading:
Blend and segment multisyllabic words at the syllable level. |
Use knowledge of prefixes and suffixes. |
Ask and answer questions using the text for support. |
Describe characters, setting, and plot events in fiction and poetry. |
Identify the conflict and resolution. |
Writing
Organize writing to include a beginning, middle, and end. |
Recognize and use complete sentences. |
Capitalize all proper nouns and the word I. |
Use correct spelling for commonly used sight words, including compound words and regular plurals. |
Science:
Forces from direct contact can cause an object to move; |
Some forces, including gravity and magnetism, can cause objects to move from a distance |
Forces have applications |
Social Studies
Ask appropriate questions to solve a problem; |
Use a decision-making model to make informed decisions; |
Practice good citizenship skills and respect for rules and laws while collaborating, compromising, and participating in classroom activities; |
Defend positions orally and in writing, using content vocabulary. |
The student Will distinguish between the use of barter and the use of money in the exchange for goods/services |
The student will explain that scarcity (limited resources) requires people to make choices about producing and consuming goods and services. |
