C&C SOCCER Information

2025-26 Season; sign-up at bottom!

This document contains essential information about the C&C Soccer teams for the duration of the 2025-26 season, which begins September 5, and ends early November. Parents and children should read this together, so everyone is on the same page regarding the details.

COACHES: Ben Heineman will head coach, assisted by Nik Pagan on Mondays and Nora Finley on Fridays. Nora is our new Vs teacher and is excited to join the soccer coaching team!

TEAMS (10s please take note!!):  We will again field only ONE team this year due to field permit limitations. Soccer will initially be open only to 11s/12s/13s and then possibly open to 10s, depending on numbers.

DAYS: The commitment days for soccer are MONDAYS & FRIDAYS. There may be some off-day tournament games at the end of the season, but players are not committed to those days (though we certainly hope you can make them!).

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS & COMMITMENT: A key aspect of the C&C sports program is its emphasis on team commitment and personal responsibility. Players should have MONDAYS & FRIDAY clear on their schedule to sign up for soccer, and are required to attend at least 75% of all combined games and practices in order to remain on the team. You are expected to be at each practice and game unless something unavoidable should arise.  Please email Todd (toddr@cityandcountry.org) as soon as you become aware of any days you must miss, as your absence affects the team!

SCHEDULE/WEBSITE: The C&C sports calendar is the same link as last year; the most up-to-date schedule can always be found in the link below! Please bookmark and refer each week to be sure you don't miss an update.

C&C Sports Calendar

EMAILS: We create a team list based on the email(s) you submit on the sign-up form (see below). Any announcements (schedule changes, new game locations, rain cancellations, etc) will be announced by email and posted on the calendar. All C&C sports teams receive a weekly email. If you are not receiving weekly team emails for soccer or any other sport please let Todd know.

STUDENT-RESPONSIBILITY: Students are responsible for checking their school email accounts and sports calendar weekly, and knowing what is happening on the team each day. A core goal of the sports program is to help children develop a sense of responsibility and preparedness. Parents are asked to support this effort by directing children to check their email and sports calendar themselves rather than providing the team information to them.

LOCATIONS, TRAVEL & PICK-UP:  All locations for both games and practices are posted on the calendar. The teams always travel as a group to and from games or practices, walking to JJWalker or taking the subway to Sara Roosevelt Park. After a game or practice the team will return to C&C, but players may be picked up or released (with permission!) from the field. Teams walk or take the subway depending on locations. Although you should always confirm on the calendar, the most frequent locations will be:

SPECIAL TRAVEL PERMISSION: 10s (if they end up participating this year) are not allowed to travel on their own and must be picked up from C&C or from practice/game locations. 11s-13s who have been granted permission through the sign-up form (below) or through email may leave unaccompanied from other locations.

TIMES: The teams always leave, together, from the River Yard as close to 3:20 as possible. Travel times often affect start and end-times, but most GAMES are scheduled to start at 4:15 and be over by 5:30. Game times and approximate return times can be found on the calendar.

PRACTICES are over on the field between 5-5:20. The teams will generally be back at C&C between 5:30 and 6, Closer to 5:30 on Fridays and closer to 6p on Mondays.

SPECTATORS: It’s great to have fans! Please feel free to come to games if your schedule allows.

COACHES’ CELL PHONE NUMBERS: Please use discretion, but if you ever need to check a location status you may text or call the coaches (or me): Coaches’ Cell Phone Numbers

EQUIPMENT: C&C will provide all equipment, including shin-guards (new players only!), balls, and uniforms. Only those new to the team will receive new shin guards, which are yours to keep through your C&C soccer career. If you have lost your shin guards please purchase new ones on your own. Students are in charge of providing their own practice clothes and are not considered prepared for practice without shorts (or sweats) and sneakers or cleats. Cleats are optional. Please come to practice prepared!

SNACK/WATER: C&C provides a nut-free snack—usually a variety of bars and veggie/lentil chips—but players are encouraged to bring something to supplement if they are inclined. Often players have not eaten for hours so it’s very important everyone eats something before physical activity. All players must bring a water bottle for practice and games. Bottles can be refilled at school before leaving each day.
