Q: What is the difference between a transcript and a certificate?
A: A certificate can be generated for a specific course once completed. A transcript is a comprehensive credit report of all courses completed with Stanford Center for Continuing Medical Education for a particular date range.


Q: Where do I park for in-person conferences?
A: Conference parking information can be found by visiting the conference  website and clicking on the location tab. Additionally, all conference registrants will receive an email containing parking directions a few days prior to the event.

Q: How do I pay for an activity?
A: Our preferred method is online by credit card. We accept MasterCard or Visa. Once you have completed the registration process, you will receive an email confirmation of your course enrollment and payment.

If you are unable to register online with a credit card, you may pay by check. You may mail your check to 1520 Page Mill Rd, Mail Code: 5190, Palo Alto, CA 94304. Please include your name, professional designation (MD, DO, MBBS, etc.), email address, phone number and the name of the course with your check. If you do not receive an email confirmation within two weeks, please contact our office at (650) 497-8554 or
stanfordcme@stanford.edu.

Q: How do I obtain a Visa letter?
A: Certain countries require participants to obtain a visa when attending a conference and may also request a letter from the Stanford CME conference to verify a participant’s attendance at the event. Some embassies may need to verify that registration fees have been paid in full and may require applicants to appear in person for an interview, causing delays in the application process. Applicants affected by these procedures are informed that additional screening is needed. Therefore, attendees should apply for a visa no later than three months prior to the conference.

Q: How do Stanford employees use their educational funds to pay for STAP fund eligible courses?
A: STAP-eligible employees can use STAP funds towards the registration fees for these activities. Complete the STAP Reimbursement Request Form and submit to your department administrator.


Q: How do I keep my profile up to date?
A: You may log in to Stanford Cloud CME using your email and password and update your profile information at any time.

Q: Can I get a discount?
A: Pricing for our CE activities is listed on each conference specific web page. If you believe you are eligible for an additional discount, please reach out to the Meeting Planner responsible for the CE activity.


Q: What is Stanford CME’s refund policy?
A: Cancellations received in writing no less than 20 days before the course will be refunded, less a 20% administrative fee. No refunds will be made on cancellations received after that date. Please send cancellation requests to stanfordcme@stanford.edu. Special circumstances may apply due to unforeseen circumstances. Stanford Medicine  reserves the right to cancel or postpone a program, if necessary. In the event of cancellation, course fees will be fully refunded. We are not responsible for other costs incurred such as non-refundable airline tickets or hotel penalties.

Q: I attended the full conference. Why do I have a credit reduction?
A:  Please check with the Meeting Planner managing the activity.  Reasons you have a credit reduction may include not checking in one day of a multi-day activity or not attesting to the full number of hours.


Q: How does Stanford meet the California requirement for Cultural and Linguistic Competency?
A: The planners and speakers of our CE activities have been encouraged to address cultural issues relevant to their topic area for the purpose of complying with California Assembly Bill 1195.
