To Whom It May Cluck-cern,
It was a normal Saturday morning queuing up Highlander Mage to complete a quest at rank 6, or so I thought. My opponent was a Shaman (in 2020, amiright?), he played the quest on turn 1. Ok, I don’t know what he’s doing, but I better kill this guy before shenanigans ensue.
He spent the first few turns after that drawing cards and progressing his quest completing it on turn 6. I drew the high end of my deck, so I couldn’t tempo out how I had hoped. This could be rough. Thankfully I had just played Fizz and then I top decked my 2 mana Golden Azure Explorer. I discover Kalecgos to try to pull magic later on if needed and use my spell power to gain some much needed tempo.
On turn 7 he doubles his Battlecries, then plays an active Zephyrs to discover 2 “perfect” cards and Bog Slosher’s 2 buffed copies of Zephyrs back into his hand. My head sunk. However, my reduced Dragons and spell damage were starting to build a board. This meant that his anti-tempo Bog Slosher turn was allowing me to make the best kind of process, the kind that punches him in his dumb Shaman face.
On turn 8 I play the 6 mana next spell is free guy, who gets me double Hogger from Power of Creation, never Reckless Rocketeer. I assumed a Zephyrs Blizzard was coming, but NO. He doubles his battlecries and plays Corrupt elementalist invoking Galakrond 4 times and getting 4 2/1 rush elementals. He only had 4 boards slots left. This was the only Invoke card he had played all game, mind you, and now had a fully powered Galakrond. He clears all but 1 Hogger and my 4/4 and my 5/4 Fizz.
It was a good turn, but the only way he does that instead of buffed Zephyrs Blizzard is if he has Galakrond in hand. I had to kill him in the next couple turns. I played and 8 mana Kalecgos, thanks Fizz and I fireball his face, go face with my minions, put him down to 3 health and spawn a 2/2 taunt.
He, predictably, hero powers and plays Galakrond. He goes up to 8 effective health, and gets 4 8/8 rushing Stupid Elementals. His Corrupt elementalist clears the 2/2 taunt, his claw hits my face, and his Elementals clear everything else. He has a 7/5 Zephyrs 4/2 Elementalist and 4 8/X Elementals.
I knew this was likely coming, with my discovered Kalecgos and a Yogg Box in hand, I gave my cards a pep talk. Listen up team, I’ve got a plan. Kalecgos, you go in first and dammit, find me that Pyroblast, GO! Why did I discover you, you worthless dumb dragon. Ok, Yogg, do your thing. Kill him, wipe the board, freeze their dudes, heal a bunch, I don’t care, just do something. No, don’t heal him to 10, that's the opposite of what I said! Drawing cards doesn’t help. Headcrack, that's a start. Random junk, Secret, secret, secret. No board clears, no freezes, nothing. You’re all fired.
But wait, I hover over the 3 paladin secrets. Auto defense matrix, worthless as usual. Noble Sacrifice, sweet saves 5, 7, or 8 damage when he had 37 damage on board. ANNNNND, Eye for an Eye. My brain starts to maths:
- If he has Lifedrinker or and direct damage I lose, does Quest Highlander Galakrond Shaman play those? No time to check HSReplay
- He’s out of Zephyrs’ right?
- If he attacks with his 7/5 first to pop the Noble Sac and then his weapon he only does 5 to himself, I lose.
- He attacks with his weapon first triggering my Noble Sac and taking him to 7.
- Does he really not have any other damage than the 7/5 or the 8 attack Elementals?
- He, in fact, does not have direct damage
- He attacks with his 7/5 doing 7 damage to his stupid exploding Shaman face.
Cluck Yeah, it's better to be lucky than good.
Praise Yogg!

You have mentioned again and again that mechanically, the thing about hearthstone that makes the game feel like hearthstone is hero powers. That being said, battlegrounds introduced a lot more hero power types into the game. With what we know about the current heroes, do you think Inspire hero power mechanics could find their way into the battlegrounds? It is extremely hard to imagine a Coldarra Drake (6/6 dragon that lets you use your hero power as many times as you want) or a minion version of Nexus Champion Saraad coming into Battlegrounds, but there are quite a few inspire minions that I could see finding a place in battlegrounds, such as Kvaldir Raider for the midgame (4/4, inspire gain +2/+2) or Lowly Squire (1/2, inspire gain +1 attack) and/or Boneguard Lieutenant (3/2, inspire gain +1 hp) for the early game. Maybe a Blackwald Pixie (3/4 battlecry that refreshes your hero power) or a Garrison Commander (2/3 that lets you use your hero power twice)? Curious as to your thoughts on this or if there are any other cool hero power interactions that I've totally forgotten about!
PS: I miss Saraad and forever wish he was/had been competitively viable.

Hello my favourite poultry based pundits
I write to ask your opinions about possibly introducing minions with aoe based deathrattles to the battlegrounds mode.
My casing example would be something like explosive sheep. A cheap minion with a deathrattle which damages all by one damage. However one with a downside as it would also deal the same damage to your side of the battlegrounds board as well. A potential counter to the massive reliance on divine shield minions in the early portion of battle, or a counter to tokens in the latter portions. I feel this adds an extra layer of complexity of play but is it something that you could see added feasibly to the game mode?
