Specials

                                                                                                              ART

Let’s celebrate Earth Day! Earth Day is celebrated every year on April 22nd. It’s a special day for everyone to come together and celebrate our beautiful earth and all the things it offers us. Of course, EVERY day is Earth Day!! In this lesson, we’ll focus on some fun and creative ways to use natural and recycled materials to create some Earth friendly art.

Choose one lesson and share a photo of your creation with your teacher!

Choice one:

Try making your own recycled handmade paper! Paper pulp may be placed on a screen (as shown in the video) or sandwiched between two washcloths, pressed to remove excess water and allowed to dry. Voila! Paper! Click Video Link

Choice two:

Go on a scavenger hunt and find some scrap paper. Newspaper, a map, a card, magazines, junk mail, paper bag, and even a candy wrapper will work. Transform the paper into a picture of a caterpillar or a butterfly. Add details using a pencil, markers, crayons, glitter or whatever you choose. Have fun creating your caterpillar or butterfly! Fun nature fact: Did you know that a whole group of butterflies is called a kaleidoscope!
