Create a Class Website

with Google Sites

Hey everyone! Here is everything you will need to create your own Class Google Site.  I will link everything below, and once you have “made a copy” of each resource (click here), you can begin creating YOUR own Google Site!

STEP #1

Create a new Google Site:

STEP #2

Create a header in Canva: Click here!

• Header size = 820 x 312 px
• Download as a png image.

Create a generic header for the other pages on your website: Click here!

STEP #3

Add the header to your Google Site: Click here!

STEP #4

Create any additional thumbnails in Canva: Click here! 

OR use the files I have created: Click here!

• Thumbnail size = 7 x 5 in
• Download as a png images
• Extract files if they are in a zipped folder

STEP #5

Create pages, subpages, and add titles to the headers: Click here!

Here is a list of pages I created on my sample website.

• Some pages are hidden to keep the navigation bar user friendly.

Use the Generic Header so you can easily type in titles for each page without having to recreate each Header.

STEP #6

 Upload images and hyperlink them to other pages on your website. Click here!

STEP #7

 Add Slides, Docs, or Sheets directly from your Google Drive: Click here!

• Make sure items you want public are set to “anyone with a link can view.”
• Remember in order to stay compliant with FERPA laws, keep your students’ information private.

STEP #8

 Add a Google Form and a “Return To Main Menu” Button: Click here!

STEP #9

Create a Class Calendar: Click here!

• Remember to set calendar to “public.”
• Do not post student birthdays on this calendar.
• You can easily update or move events on your calendar.
• Make sure these events are tagged to the correct calendar, not your personal one ;)

Add the calendar to your website: Click here!

• Set “view” to MONTH.

STEP #10

Add Slides or Bitmojis: Click here!

• Make sure your slides are set to “anyone with a link can view.”
• In order to add a Bitmoji, you must first save it to your computer and then drag or upload it onto your page.

STEP #11

Add Subtitles and Change the Background: Click here!

Duplicate Subtitles and add Text Boxes: Click here!

STEP #13

Add a Google Sheet: Click here!

• Make sure the Google Sheet permissions are set to “anyone with a link can view.”

STEP #14

Add an Email Button: Click here!

STEP #15

Publish your website: Click here!
