Updates and Reminders for the week ending May 2 | |
This Week We… Math: We are wrapping up Topic D this week which included the following: Students extend a number line to include fractions greater than 1 by drawing and partitioning number lines that represent specified intervals. They count and skip-count by fractional units to name fractions greater than 1 and to recognize fractions that are equivalent to whole numbers.
In Fundations, we continued working in Unit 7. Students also explored exceptions when the i isn’t changed and the suffix is added. (baby + ish = babyish) Science/ Social Studies: kicked off a unit on force and motion. Social Emotional Learning (SEL): learned about Arabic culture. | Next Week We Will… Math: Students will work on Topic E, the last topic in this module. With a progression of strategies similar to those in earlier topics, students use one or two number lines to find pairs of equivalent fractions greater than 1.
In Fundations, we will wrap up Unit 7. We will continue to learn how to pluralize words ending in y in an open syllable (i.e. family/families) and how to pluralize words ending in o in an open syllable (i.e. potato-potatoes). Science/ Social Studies: explore speed and direction resulting from forces.
