March 18, 2021

Good afternoon,

I wanted to provide you with an update in regard to state testing (M-STEP, PSAT, SAT) for this spring.

At this time, the State of Michigan is seeking, but has not yet received a waiver for the requirement to test students. The state assessments are required to be given in-person and schools have been told by the Michigan Department of Education that we need to make our best effort to assess as many students as possible, and as safely as possible, while following local and state COVID-19-related directives.

Within the next few days, a building survey will be shared asking parents of remote students to identify if they are planning on attending school during these days.  Please take a brief moment to complete this survey as we will use the results for planning purposes to set up testing in our respective buildings.  Choosing to not participate in the testing will not in any way penalize your child.  In-person students will test as normal as they will be in attendance on these days.

Unfortunately, transportation will not be provided for remote students on these days.  Arrangements will have to be made to drop off and pick up during your child’s respective testing times.  Specific days and times will be shared with you from your child’s respective school.

Please feel free to contact me or your child’s building principal if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Moore
